OOOOOOyy-youch! That is a rod bearing I'm looking at but that is #4, no? Not the infamous #3? Good luck with the '09 deal. If you're going the new bike route, this couldn't have happened at a better time. It'll be an awesome bd present.

I think it's #4, but I'm not positive. It's the far left one, kickstand side. Anyone?

Two years in a row I get a new zx14 for my BD. How lucky can ya be?!?!?

I'm tryin' to work the dealer down to $11k OTD for the '09, but they're tryin' to work me into $9.3k OTD for an '08. $1700 savings would be much more tempting if I didn't already have all of the bolt ons and green wasn't my favorite color.

Darn Dogo, that is a sad sight to see.

See the two fangs that are touching the bottom of the rod's big end? Is that off the crank can you tell?

It sort of looked like the bearing inserts wadded inside the rod big end, grew big enough in the rolling up of one big wedge, snapped the rod bolts and she was heading out the door once that wad had no place to go but out!

My oil pan is coming down once that rack opens up. I need my nephew over to finish off his bike. I'll show you were to look for a cleaning screen where when they assemble the engines, the felt off their gloves sorta accumulate their and close off some flow.

Used to see it a lot in the 1970's where that glove fiber would be clinging onto the sump screen. I don't know if the gloves were improved to keep the felt down to a minimum on the new assemblies today... I'll know soon enough.

Color does not seal the deal. Wink-wink!

Off the crank... the bottom 2/3's of the rod are MIA. All I can find are the bolts!

were you mid wheelie when she went bang?

Nope. She was planted. Did a couple power wheelies coming out of the corners before the stretch she gave up on me. But nothing I would think was big or long enough to starve the engine.

Glad your safe and sound. Post some pictures of the green machine if and when you get it.

Thanks! Will do! Gonna be a couple weeks before I get the $$$ together, but a new 14 will be in the stable soon enough.
I did 350 miles on my zx10r and all I could keep thinking is, " man this is a great bike, but man do I miss my zx14!"

I'll have another zx14 in time. Couldn't get the deal I wanted on an '09 yet and came across a good deal on the kind of boat I've wanted for awhile.

Now, who needs parts?
