If I take it off what is the hydraulic clutch hooked to behind that cover? Will something fall out of its place if I remove the cover?

Well Im still stumped. I have a tapping sound in the rotation of either the chain or bearings or trans(I surely hope its not the trans). Its not a really fast tap. If I run it up in 2nd and turn it off I can hear a slight tapping. About 3 or 4 taps a second. I can feel it in my left foot peg while im riding at lower speeds, 3rd gear and under. I checked the chain and sprockets and they are good. Chain is not over tight or loose. Oil level is good. Im using Rotella T6. Any ideas what I could check next?

I can roll it forward in neutral and here the tap but its more prominent when rolling in 2nd gear with the clutch disengaged(clutch lever pulled in). I pulled the rear wheel off and checked the chain by folding it back to itself all the way around. I will get out later today and check the rollers with some needle needle nose. I don't believe it would show up on a video.

Rear tire maybe a 1K ago. The noob mechanic who installed the tire didnt put it back together correctly. He didnt put the caliper bracket on the slot. I went off down the road and when I got to a stop light the damn caliper bracket spun around the disc and hit the top of the swingarm..thus stopping me on a dime. I put it all back together for now. If the noise gets any louder I will tear it back down and check that shaft bearing. I guess if i cant pin point a problem I will have to ride it till something comes up for sure. I would hate for something to break at 100+ mph though.

It didnt lock up at high speeds. It locked up at the end of the stop really. I noticed it when I went to take off from the light. I dont think it put that much pressure on it but Im going to check that shaft.
