Almost ready to graduate from Squid school
08/28/16 4:31 PM

I made a couple of runs before the rain set in today. We have that tropical depression out in the Gulf and you can tell by the flag blowing there is a strong crosswind. I tried a couple of techniques and it appears that letting it bog seems to work best for me, but I will keep experimenting with different techniques as time goes by. I made it into the 1.4s for the 60' time, but maybe the crosswind effected my top speed and time. I ran a 5.85 @ 124 mph.

That first run was probably more fun even though it wasn't the fastest.

Just an observation. Yeah, it's heaps of fun to ride the 1/4 flat out.
Can I suggest though, to fully graduate from squid school, might be worth investing in either a two piece zip together or a one piece race suit- especially if you plan more work on the drag strip. You'd lose a lot of skin wearing those jeans with the jacket riding up like that if you bin it. ATGATT is a better acronym than SQUID. Anyway, as said, just an observation.

TGATT is a better acronym than SQUID.

Thanks. I had to look that acronym up. I actually have leathers and I'll take your advice and start wearing them even though it is still very hot down here in south Florida.

Cool. Wasn't trying to be a smart ass. I've worked in hospitals for almost all my working life. Seen it all too many times. I wear leather at all times and I live in Queensland. Not sure how the temperature compares, but it gets hot here too. Hope you keep having a ball. Great to see anyone who rides for the love of riding.

I really should wEAR my gear more often. It would be best to wear it all the time but really, on a daily comute, people just think your a goofball around here....especially the people who are at the place you're going. I love to weAR MY GEAR AND TO TELL YOU THE TRUTH THE HOTTER The air is the more likely I am to be riding hard. I put it all on for sport riding in 90+ F but then I'm not going anywhere some redneck will be thinking I'm a nutjob who needs to have his ass kicked. I was raised redneck so I know how they think. Usually it doesn't come to assault or ridicule but they do think you're a little strange.

Rook, I started laughing my ass off at work when I read that. You are so right-- I too was raised in the south and I could picture you all suited up and some dude in a jacked-up four wheel drive pickup looking over at you through his sunglasses and he rolls down his window and spits out his chaw (chewing tobacco)...

I've thought about going if he had a class closer to the Midwest.
