Mark of the Beast
04/01/14 7:38 PM

Hey gents,
I finally got my bike back from RCC turbos last week and wanted to post here now that I have joined the turbo ranks.
First of all, let me say thanks to Romans (our resident turbo expert on this forum) for all his guidance and help in answering my many, many questions, and also for pointing me in the direction of Richard at RCC Turbos - an absolute first rate Turbo builder. Having Roman's living so close by and knowing I could rely on his help anytime is one reason I decided to pull the trigger on the turbo in the first place. So again I say Thank you Romans.
Now ... down to business.
The bike made very good numbers. It is running on 4lbs of boost with 2 degrees of timing out. SAE Smoothing 5 number was 257.2 horse and 149 torque. Install is very stealth and only the best parts were used in the kit. I'm so glad that I went with the custom ceramic coated exhaust option which sounds soooo deep and powerful. I ordered a Hyperpro steering damper, EKZZZ 530 chain and an 8" over Alumistreet McIntosh swingarm. Once these are in they will be thrown on along with my Wideband 2 sensor and LCD 200 monitor - hopefully all will be done by the end of this month. I'll post final pics once it's all on, but in the meantime here is how it looks today.

Ada boy!
Seeing you melt that rear tire on Sunday, and drive that front wheel skyward had me grinning all the way home from your place. I am happy it turned out for you and that it exceeds your expectations.

So now that Romes and You both have Turb's I need to up my insurance policies. Because I am going to ride even more aggressively! Wolfman ain't no parachute. Watch your six!

Well done brotha!
W

Do you have an overlay pic of before and after on the hp and tq graphs?

I'm already considering a turbo for next year. The bike doesn't accelerate hard enough. Especially here at altitude.

I actually had the bike dyno'd at two different locations, so sorry - no overlay.
I know that with full exhaust, pcv, ecu flash I was making 193 horse and 113ish torque SAE smoothing 5.
Now it's the 257 and 149 SAE smoothing 5.

Gorgeous bike, I wouldn't mind upgrading mine.....she looks soooooo crisp and sleek!
I wonder if you can repost the dynojet chart so I can see the afr trend please........
Cheers

Hey Grin,
That dyno photo I included was taken with my cellphone while it was up on the computer screen when the bike was on the dyno. The dynosheet that RCC sent me after didn't include the AFR line. I believe with the autotune we are tuning it to 11.8 under boost. When off boost it's tuned to run like a normal zx14r. I've ordered a thicker headgasket and stiffer valve springs and they should be here in a couple of weeks or so. I'm still waiting on my stretch too, but once it all shows up I'm having it all put on at the same time by a zx14 guru here in Toronto. Once the gasket is in I'm planning on swapping the 4lb spring to up the boost to 7-8lbs. At that point I'm going to have it dynoed again to see what it is making and hopefully then I can put a better sheet with a clear afr line to view. Here is the sheet that RCC emailed me...

Crikey the newer motor makes really good even, progressive power and torque. Its good to note at 5k its giving almost 100 hp and 100 ft lbs . get the 8lbs spring in and that will be one fast momntor!
thanks for the pic. Im running to about 11.6 on full boost so not far away I might just trim it a little more..it will be good to compare the 4 and 8 .............stamding by for a full report

Diggin' that. I love those trimmed down seats on a 14. They give a nice slender profile between the tail and the main body of the bike plus a little more room to tuck down nice and low. Little more bend in the knee with those rearsets? I have a stock seat sitting here waiting to get carved out.

This one was only carved out a little on the bottom and sides, the hump was added because when I get on the gas while slamming the gears I get thrown back all the time - this hopefully prevents that. While I was at it, I threw in some Gel for added comfort - and boy oh boy is it comfy....
