Annual bike trip
05/15/23 10:11 AM

Off for our annual bike trip! Don’t think for a second we’re not going to find out how the 2023 Hayabusa stacks up against the mighty 14R either. We’re heading out to the Twisted sisters ride in West Texas.

To be fair he does outweigh me by 20 LBS, but even with equal weight it still wouldn’t matter. I had about a 5 mph pull on him the entire time. I did get to ride it and I’ll say that it’s very nice with the cruise control and factory quick shifter. Otherwise you could close your eyes and think you were riding a 14R. They’re that close in feel.

Yannih, we are drinking Miller lite unless they screw up just like Bud light did haha!

Like the new Busas but they should've upped the displacement to something more like the 14R.

Any thoughts on other aspects? Handling? Brakes? I know at least at my '13s time frame (before Brembo) Busa's were said to have better suspension and brakes than 14s. Not sure how much better, I'm sure it would have be very marginal, but none the less "better".

if i recall their brakes were commonly referred to as 'wooden'.My friend's busa had great stopping power.Think it was an 08 or something.Orange and black.
DROP in displacement? That was a terrible move.Unless they expected to have the new owners or racers build off what's there.Like the H2 motor.

The brakes feel on par with my bike. Plenty of stopping power, and they took repeated abuse through the mountains without complaint. Handling I’d give a slight edge to the 14 only because of the factory installed steering damper. It was far too intrusive when making quick directional changes which would throw my intended line off.
