08 or newer busa owners ?
03/23/12 8:41 PM

is there anybody out there that had a 08 or newer busa and now rides a zx14r... just wanted to know how you would rate the differents in handling and weight of the bike slow speed tighter corners etc.

I had K8 busa past 4 fours before this new current ZZR1400 2012 model but but but it's still waiting for sunny days in my garage ;(
As soon as I'll get it on fire, most likely within next 1-2 weeks, I'm gonna post some finding here, hopefully positive ones ;)

No, both of these bikes are superb in this series. Busa was awesome and felt better day after day - over 42.000 km pure pleasure.

The kawaski was way more easer to just jump on and go fast... the seat was much better then the busa...handlebars and ergos much more relaxed...felt like the kawaski was better balance....even a less skilled rider could jump on the the kawaski and go faster do to the electronic with less drama.

^You said it perfectly, Matsuke.....and they ride just the way they look IMO. The 14 is the wild barbarian and the busa is the refined soldier. The 14 feels faster. The busa did not scare me at all but it is just as fast. The only thing about the busa was the vibey bottom end that roughly corresponds to the 14's vibey 3.5-4K performance. I do not like the vibe in the busa right at take off. It feels a little cheap compared to the perfect smoothness of the entire rest of the powerband (yeah, I redlined it 3 times and hardly felt it). I enjoy the gnarlyness of my 14 over 6K. it is frighteningly fierce where the busa just feels like it is not even touching the ground. Both bikes similar in performance but vastly dif personalities, IMHO.
Brakes are not nearly as good on the busa but they were adequate for the street. I am usually very light on my brakes though. Be interesting to test the busa in real braking capability.
Did not notice a big dif in suspension. I may have my rear suspension set too tight for one up riding on the 14. It is perfect for two up. The busa suspension, as it is set up by the dealer, felt exactly the same as the 14's.
Stock exhaust sounds better on the busa. Has a more hollow, refined sound. Sporty but very quiet. I suppose my 14 was also extremely quiet when new but the sound was always more raw.
Aeros/wind protection, if there is a diff, I did not notice in my first 13 miles of riding. I only went ~130-140mph though. I have no doubt the busa cuts the air better at really high speed.
Cornering, the busa feels extremely good considering it is noticeably heavier at a standstill. I have not cornered hard with it yet though. It felt enough like the 14 that I had a high level of confidence handling the bike except at parking lot speeds.
Transmission. I am really sorry to report, my brothers, the busa is smoother in every way. N to 1st, 1st to 2nd, every downshift perfect even in lower gears.
Looks. The 14 is better looking.
Instruments. I like the look of analogue on the busa but the 14 is a lot easier to read and displays more info on the multi-func meter. I guess I was mostly concerned with the tach today and that of course, is no dif than the 14's tach.
Signal lights on the busa do not seem as bright and visible. Mirrors offer a better rear view but they are ugly. i will have to change those.
Heat. Didn't notice it from the busa.
Comfort/riding position. Both feel the same to me. busa is more forward in upper body position and this is noticeable to me only when i focus on that aspect. That's me, though. I have a good back, I guess. Seat feels 1/2" lower on the busa.

^^^Yup, both of the bikes are 08.

I think the stock 2012 14r is faster than the stock G2 busa. The busa feels more predictable in a tight corner than the 14. The 14r is probably close in weight to the G2 busa but I can't say how it corners.
