Hey, whats up? I was reading your laundry list. The answer is too easy. Run the '06.
Pro:
1. You have the parts already.
2. You are familiar with the bike.
3. You need a practice bike like a trackday bike, so you buy used and abuse that bike instead.
4. You will need money to run the tire and gate fees, gas tank fees, we keep feeding everyone to go racing.
5. You will see how much it takes to get involved, thinking you may may not commit once you see the bills mount.
6. You have a chance of growing a little on the side is the piggy bank. This is for the next race bike.
7. You take this year to slowly introduce yourself to the tree and what it takes.
Con:
1. The R. She is under development stages by the aftermarket. YOu'll wait for parts and miss a season of events.
2. Sure, the bike is faster, but who cares. This is racing. It take the head game to race. You'll beat R's if you're good.
3. If you have discretionary income, it still says, you are limited to the motor job, if parts are parts, more parts are available for the 14 right now.
4. Can't buy rods yet. Big end and small end are different than the 14. So, right there is tooling for a strong H-beam.
5. Cam lobes and longer valve stems. Where are you going to find bigger valves for the head?
6. Part of the fun is the build. Since more parts are around for your 14, the factory is going to assemble bike before they ship parts that are easier to come by [14] down the road. You'll still wait a day or a week longer.
It does matter in racing. You'll find the season runs out sooner than you think, so start on the bike you have now.
