WTB - Mods for 2008
06/02/13 4:03 PM

Just bought an '08 that is stock. Looking for the following:

Full exhaust or slip ons (not really interested in shortys megaphone style)
Power Commander
Rear Sets, or alternate pegs that give more leg room.
Heli bar or risers
Parts to lower front and rear. (Don't really want to strap the front) Does the 14 use a triple tree like the Busa??
XXL Jacket (black)
XXL full face helmet (black)
Magnetic tank bag with expandable capacity.

Bike is being shipped, I'm shopping!

Thanks....

Per the exhaust: decide if you want a full system with 1 muffler or if you like the symmetrical look and better low end and mid range of 2 mufflers. If you decide on the dual mufflers, be aware the stock exhaust on the 08 and newer models has catalytic converters in each muffler and the header. Lots of guys with 08 and newer bikes use the 06-07 header to eliminate the cat with slip ons for the 06-07 which are different than the 08 and later models. If you choose this route, I have a new set of Scorpion carbon fiber slip ons listed here for sale.
Per the lowered pegs, I have a brand new set of Buell pegs which lower the feet about an inch. I've used them on many different brands and models and they work well and are inexpensive. This is a spare set and I'd be happy to help a new guy out by selling them for what they cost.
Good luck with the bike.

Thanks Hank. Bike is being shipped, will be here next week. I'm going to assess it when it gets here but will likely take the Buell pegs. Thanks for the heads up on the 06-07 header vs the 08+. I was just reading that in a review of the 08 when it came out. So you're saying the slip ons you have will bolt to an 06-07 header but not and 08 and newer?

Bob

The 06-07 slip ons are the same as the 08-11 slip ons except where the mid pipes slip over the flange of the header.
The OD of the later header is slightly larger than the 06-07. I'm pretty sure a trip to a muffler shop to expand the mid-pipe slightly where it fits over the header flange would allow the early mid-pipes to fit the later header. Again, I think a better option is to buy a used 06-07 header and use that on the later model bike as it eliminates a catalytic converter. They are generally readily available from guys who went to a full 4 into 1 system.
