My wife and I were taken down by a drunk driver back on 5/31/14 while on my Honda FB6 which I feel saved us due to its size and weight. We were cruising in the middle of the day when the drunk was coming from the opposite direction and last minute she the drunk turned left across my path to a one way street (illegal turn). I slammed the brakes, scrubbed some speed before I t-boned the passenger side door. My and I both fell to the right and suffered injuries to our right legs. My wife unfortunately suffered the worst with her leg injury requiring surgery with metal installed to support the crushed bone. She has another month before she can put any pressure on it.
Later we find out from a State Trooper while at the hospital the drunk left the accident scene, driving on a suspended license already for DUI and the street she turned to get to was a one way street. We were lucky to have someone chase after the drunk and calling the police as she tried to get away. She was arrested on the spot and now I am doing the dance with insurance co's and preparing for criminal/civil litigation down the road. You can prepare for the ride which we did with full gear but sometimes you just can't get away from idiots. I waited to share this with you just because I need time to reflect and take care of wifey.
I still have my trusted 14 and will continue to enjoy this motorcycling sport.
