Opinions for colour changes
01/20/15 5:03 AM

Would like some opinions about the proposed color changes of some of the panels.

First picture is current

Second pic is what I would like to do. I think the heel guard is to much, will probably stick to black.

Is also going to ceramic coat the link pipes satin black.

Thanks Grn, It is easy to go to far when you play around with Microsoft paint. I just posted up to get some perspective before I start of the change.

I like the proposed changes, subtle but very good looking. Personally I would leave the pipes alone and would paint the heel guard red, they add nice contrast in the right areas. Beautiful bike!!!

I wouldn't paint the pipes black unless your cans were black, I would just paint the heel guards
black or get CF ones, as KINGY2 said, she looks good as she is ! Very HOT !!!

Like the black midpipe and love the red belly pan. Red heal guard, No. Striped fins are ok but I think all black is equally as nice with this scheme.

Seems like a lot of red.
Leave the bottom fairing black, make exhaust mid pipe black, and put the red pinstripes on the grills. Maybe red rim tape.
You will have the red top and black bottom effect. Then look at heel guards if they need to be red. You can also change things like foot pegs or rear sets if you want to add colour without painting.

Some colors can be "too much" if they are solid colors and need some contrast.

Funny how everyone has a different opinion.
I reckon the bottom pic but without the black mid pipe.
Leave it chrome to match the can.
And strangely, I really like the red red heel guard (and red belly pan).

Thanks for all the replies. I think the route to go after taking all the opinions aboard is to keep it subtle. I will think long and hard about this.

If you send in a sample color to Letters Unlimited, I'm sure they will have vynil very close to the color of your bike. Apply that on a hot sunny day and it will be flawless. There's a knack to it but you get the hang of it. It seems impossible at first on small radii. Some things you just can't do. The fin striping could be done but I think you would have to do some cutting with an exacto. You prolly don't want to try that unless you know what your doing. Vinyl is not easy to cut and requires a little experience and a brand new blade perfectly sharp. I think a beginner could do the belly pan and the lowers. It's a good way to try things. If you get sick of it, peel it off. If it's perfect, leave it on. Might just last as long as the bike.

Plastidip would also be a great temporary finish but I'm sure you would need to have a custom color mixed and apply with a sprayer + it is not very durable and the PlastiDip Glossifier attracts dust.

I like your mods. Only thing I'd change is the heel guard blacked out.

heel guards, I agree, I have a carbon fibre set, collecting dust that would look awesome.

Lower picture is great. Was going to go red was going to change it similar to where your headed. My feeling is the heel guards black, exhaust is polished so painting the pipe now looks odd (i think yor stuck with the exhaust), I know its cheaper to paint cowlings but at least buy the factory 2014 blk/red side cowlings used on the matte black model. They are GLOSS spark black and passion red and the gloss will pick up on the wheels. Also paint the top cowlings near the bars and instrument cluster red also or buy the factory gloss spark black painted to break up the red. Red solid 1/4" rim stripes. Just sharing some of where I was headed if I went red. Beautiful bike good luck and it looks great now as is.

I would leave her just as she is in the first picture and paint the heel guard black.

She looks great just as she is !

x2 The lower has too much red to me. Now, adding the red highlights but keeping the lower black, that might work.
