Genmar Riser question
05/13/12 4:17 PM

Just got my Genmar riser blocks in the mail yesterday.

Installation is pretty straightforward, BUT the rt side makes the brake hose VERY tight. I have a 2012, is it the same as other years?

The hose looks like it goes down to a little junction block on the frt of the frame. I dont know how else to describe it, and there doesn't seem to be any way to gain any play; as its bolted there too.

Am I worried about nothing? We'll see if I make it home from my quick test ride.

ALSO, should I locktite the bolts in? they weren't from the factory.

Found this thread after searching some more. guess Ill just keep an eye on it.

Can't comment, but curious what your opinion is compared to the stock height
Can't you work the assembly back on the bar itself?

Back from my ride. I really dont have comfort issues around town, with shifting riding position so much. So its hard to be sure its going to be as good as I hoped, but I still notice some improvement.

Really need to get some 50+ mile highway jaunts in, where Im in one position for longer periods 30mins to an hour. that will tell the tale.

To take some tension off the brake hose, I rotated the bracket for the master and brake lever down a tiny bit. At some point, Ill probably make a little bracket (as suggested in the link I posted above).

"To take some tension off the brake hose, I rotated the bracket for the master and brake lever down a tiny bit"...yep...that's what ya do.Good Job!Welcome BTW!.You COULD just purchase a single hose(aftermarket)and install if you're concerned.Maybe an inch longer or so.

Grn14, thx for the tip. I may just do that (buy a longer hose), we'll see. Ill keep an eye on it for the time being; and it seems that mine must be the same as everyone else's. So its likely fine.

Ya...that brake line is a bit stiff...but you solved it with the master/perch adjustment.May even be able to bring that assembly in closer to the inside there...give ya a few MM more?Had those on my 07 for a couple seasons...never had a prob with that hose going bad from being a tad 'tight'.

When I installed my Genmars my front brake line was tighter than Auron's avatar :)

So yes very tight.
