M109 is awesome, for a cruiser. That's what I owned before I picked up the ZX-14 this summer. Those bikes get a lot of attention when you're out riding.

It is a fun bike to ride. It's no sport bike but it does corner very well for a cruiser, fat rear tire and all. Here is mine. First picture is stock hieght, second picture it's been lowered 1.75".

My brother in law had a GSXR 1000 and went to the M109R and hated it. I rode it a couple of times and wasn't impressed at all. It was supposed to be up to the par in the Power Cruiser department with my Triumph Rocket III but didn't seem to be in the same ballpark. I think they have an cool look to them but the power just doesn't seem to be there for a bike that big. He rode with me and my other brother and law who had a VMAX and the M109 was left in the dust off the line every time.

admiralman, I here what your saying here and totally understand but I don't think you are giving the M109 a fair shake. What I mean by this is, look at the bikes you have placed the M109 up against. This is a 2 piston motor. Being fair, what other two piston bike do you know of that makes this kind of power and torque for the money that Suz is selling this one 4. Surly you did not expect this bike to hang with the above mentioned?

Quite honestly, I only expected what the motorcycle mags were stating. I recall an article in one of them the pit the M109R against the VROD, a Victory, and the Rocket III in the Power Cruiser genre. The M109R came up lacking in the power arena but was a good bang for the buck. Fair enough.

My brothers bike runs up against my co-worker's Victory Vegas(2CYL)and kicked it ass all summer. Well it did. My friend John could not take this so a Lloyds big bore 110 kit was just installed, things have now changed. 6700 spent on the motor to beat a 109? The M109R does not make the Hp to play with the other above mentioned. I can tell you this for sure when my bro revs it and dumps the clutch it sure is fun to watch that big 280 tire burn rubber all the way through the intersection. His mods are the usual PC3, flies out, lowered, Air box kit, Tran's kit, Rims, g-pro. No NOS yet. For a 2 cylinder bike she Goes pretty good and my Brother beats the shit out of this bike....No problems outside of tires off course. These two bikes were pitted against each other in their stock form and all the way through the Mod changes. John is now winning but he led with his wallet. Summer will be her soon. I will fill you in on how phase 2 works out. There may be a new faster stock 2 CYL bike that just came out but I wouldn't know. All good info.

Romans...is your brother in law a Dentist? I don't think it's legal in California to get that bottle filled. LOL
If you mount a bottle of Grade D med air to the other side get a mixing valve and a high altitude mask, you could cruze at high altitudes, all day long!

Nope, no dentist.lol. We took the bottle from the trunk of my brothers 67 Acadian . The race car is not seeing much track time any more. The bike has claimed his interest now. In the photo, we just laid it on the pipes for a laugh.

Have you guys read this? They put the M109R within .09 seconds of the Rocket III on the 1/4 mile... and .23 seconds for 0-60mph...

http://www.popularmechanics.com/cars/news/4216203?page=7

I've been thinking about buying an M109R2 but you guys seem to completely disagree with that article!

That black one is very sharp looking, so is the hammer but if you want performance why would anyone buy a cruiser? I have(hate to admit) but owned a Harley Fatboy and Suzuki Intruder 1500 LC and its fine for cruising donw the highway at 70 but performance and handling was like watching a fat kid run shuttle runs.

IKeyes,

I will just say that numbers like these depend on a lot of factors. I have seen 0-60 numbers for the rocket III as low as 2.8 seconds. Take a look around and you will find them too. Anyway, I have a rocket III and have ridden the M109R (brother in law had one). I actually thought the M109 was a little weak compared to all of the hype about it. There is no comparison torque wise with the Rocket.

If not a 109 my choice would be a V2K, my best friend and riding buddy has an 06 Vulcan 2000 Classic and that thing is a blast to ride... but my main complaint is that it hits the limiter just over 5 grand... 1st gear gets blown by so fast you might as well just shift to 2nd as soon as the bike begins to move, then a satisfying but short blast through 2nd, and then a bit better after that.

I ripped his V2K to 130 once and it felt like I could have easily buried the needle (reading 150) which was impressive considering I ride a 14 normally. That is the only complaint I can think of about the V2K though honestly, and I would have that at the top of my "alternate" list but I like the more aggressive styling of the 109 and it would be nice to have something different.

If I found a killer deal on a V2K I would probably go for it though...

Can't say much about the numbers IE quarter mile times or 0-60 times, but I just sold my VTX 1800c.. A buddy at work has the m109. Side by side from start to wide open the bikes were so identical it was unreal. My VTX pulled away slightly in 5th but no more than a bike and a half difference. All I know is either of these bike will smoke any Harley out there. Check this article out: http://m.motorcyclecruiser.com/roadtests/performance_cruiser_comparison/index.html

It does say the vrod has faster times but I drove the vrod at a Harley dealership in Arlington Texas and there is no way it's faster.

johnodie, what did you have done to your VTX because the VTX is almost a second slower in the the quarter than the 109.
