Rear stand used to lift front
12/16/14 10:16 AM

You all probably know about this, but in case not:

I was trying to think of a way to get the front wheel off the ground. Realized my rear stand, which I thought I really didn't need anymore after installing my center stand, would work. Just need a small rod to insert thru the front axle hole, long enough to catch both lift channels on the stand. Both tires are off the ground in the pic below.

Careful, though: The stand's handle sticks out pretty far, and with not much weight on the front wheel, and with the bike on the center stand which is a pretty narrow platform, I imagine somebody tripping on the handle could knock the bike down

Glad that works for you...but using a front stand..any front stand..won't allow a guy to check steering bearings and all. That's why I bought a pivot stand. You have that center stand on there....is there a reason you're not using that instead?

Beautiful bike BTW;)

You all probably know about this,

NO, I sure didn't. That's friggin brilliant! Thanks for the tip. Yu could do brake work. No wheel removal though. Would be a fine way to store the bike. I think the steering stem lift is the most versatile but if you're in a pinch, that rear stand might satisfy your need.

Yeah I'm with you ... I just don't have a pivot stand, yet ... well, haven't really needed one.

I have been using the center stand only since installing it. The rear stand was left over from my Honda RC51, and I had been meaning to sell it. Maybe I'll just keep it now!

Beautiful bike BTW;)

Thank you, Grn14!

Well, that's great ... glad to be helpful, Rook!

Right. Makes it easier to clean the wheel, or like you said store the bike with the tire up off the ground. Maybe some other things, not sure. Apply rim stripes??

I think the steering stem lift is the most versatile but if you're in a pinch, that rear stand might satisfy your need.

Agreed!
