I couldn't help myself
05/11/14 6:43 PM

I made the mistake of just "looking around" on the computer a week or so ago. I caught myself out and ended up not being able to resist. My latest impulse buy is a small stable mate for the ANIML. A fairly fresh 2007 ZX10R with only 11000kms on the clock. It has a really nice carbon KR Tuned full exhaust and a PC III. I've always liked the under-tail exhaust on this model.
It's really funny to me that a ZX10R can be referred to by ZX14R owners as "small". lmfao. In anyone's language, the ZX10R is a heavy hitting bike, but in ours, it's a "little" bike.
I really only bought it for "spirited" carving duty and occasional/rare track day bike, being willing to let it get caught with some dust and grime on it, where the ZX14R is kept spectacularly clean and polished. Truth be known.... it's already starting to reflect my need for constant tweaking and polishing. lmao
My logic (excuse) is, at least if I put that down going a touch hard, it's only 7k, not the 23k the 14 owes me.

Its a great bike man. I have the same year but diffrent color. She' my track/street bike...I got over 51k on here now. The motors getting a lil tired, but she still runs strong...After jumping off the ZX14 you'll get on here and be like
this thing feels like a 250...Especially when you start hitting some corners or the track!

1st mod I would Suggest is swap out the Front callipers for a set of 06-11 ZX14 or 08-10 ZX6 Callipes and pads...direct bolt on & no mods needed. 1 finger wheel standing braking..Stock calipers have been known to fade during hard use and on track...

Thanks for the comments guys, and for the heads up Blkcasper. Yeh, I've heard that's the way to go. I'm broke as a one eyed hooker now, so they'll have to wait a bit. lmfao. Anyone have some Gen 1 ZX14 or 08-10 ZX6R calipers I could "acquire"?
Just moving the thing around at home, it's like a 250. The tires are really badly worn in the center, so it doesn't really want to tip into corners right now. Once it's in the corner it's better, but not great. Some new rubber will fix that though. I've got the Helibars coming for it, and a few other little tidy up parts. It has braided brake lines, but they must have been fitted by a complete no-brainer. The front lines are the dual line set up and they've been fitted (really badly) like the factory looped ones. The rear line is like it's been fitted backwards, and chafes against the swingarm. Both sets of lines are damaged. I can't believe someone would screw up something as important as brakes. No wonder I refuse to take my bikes to a mechanic (term used loosely). Goodridge GP Pro lines are on their way to sort out that little bag of hammers. Got some nice rim tapes fitted now too, and it's getting the clean-up and polishing treatment. I rode it on the weekend and only managed to get 120kms before the fuel light came on, so I think the Power Commander might need some attention too.
It's a great 2nd bike, but since buying the ZX14 and ZX14R new, I forgot what it was like having to fix up other people's fuck-ups.

Thanks for the post Bean. Saves me putting up my pic. It was a pretty cool little stable we had there. A real feast for the eyes. It was great. Glad I could help with a few little tips. Cheers mate.
I'm with you Smatlock. I't be amusing, but I'd look completely ridiculous. My GF just bought a 2006 GPX250R to get her license soon. I was tasked with riding it home from the place of purchase. It felt funny as shit. I kept looking over my shoulders to see if people were staring. I'm sure I looked like a bear riding a turtle. lmao
It is a pity Wolf, I'd love to have all you guys for a show and shine night at my place.
