Suspension upgrade
08/11/17 10:05 PM

Was passing through Corona, Ca this spring. Had an Ohlins rear shock (ttx) pre sprung for my weight drop shipped to Racetech, when I showed up early morning they swapped the rear out and revalved the forks for compression and rebound, and replaced springs for my weight. Then they set me on the bike and set sag. What a transformation!!!. Bike used to turn in ok, but would drift out mid to later turn, I was always fighting it to stay in the turn. Now she turns in even easier, and I had to learn not to over turn in the corner. She now stays planted in the turn, eager to turn even tighter, instead of drifting out. With the higher rate springs you would think it would be rough - actually the opposite - even smoother. Best upgrade you can make to complement the power of the bike. Not cheap, but not unreasonable, especially considering the change. I'm 210 w/o gear, so maybe a bigger difference for me than a smaller guy. Fantastic experience having the suspension set up by pro's.

Awesome. I like my Ohlins a tiny bit better than stock but the change may be more dramatic once I set them up the way I want them. I just put them on and never touched the adjustments since the guy I bought them from was just 10 lbs heavier than me. The front is definitely not floaty through the corners like the stock forks.

Auron; Racetech has a great application where they take into account your weight and experience, to determine the spring rate. For me it worked well. I found that revalving complemented the spring change, by making the suspension very plush even with a stiffer spring.
