11/29/12 10:31 PM

so i ordered the LP carbon fiber tank guard. i currently have one of the rubbery ones with the adhesive that most people have. is there any tips on getting it off along with the adhesive so it doesnt lve a mess afterward.i was thinkin maybe alcohol wipes or something along those lines. any ideas

Hair dryer as you peel it off...goo gone works well as you're 'peeling'.Go slow.I personally would NOT open the fuel door while using that hairdryer to heat the protector. It may vent a tad...you should be fine.Just don't keep it too close for a longish period.

I find the best thing to use to remove adhesive such as those normally found on stickers, tape, and most other stuff that gets stuck to automotive finishes is rubber cement thinner. try it on an inconspicuous area to be sure. i have never lknown it to cause discoloration or damage but best to be safe.

rubber cement thinner has worked like a charm where alcohol and even acetone don't do much at all.

But you'll have to watch out for the drop bears!
