Today is the Day
04/17/20 5:57 AM

Hi All,
Well after being a long time lurker, I have sold my 2013 Honda Fury and hope to purchase a 2014 ZX14R today. If all checks out on the visual/ride inspection it will be a done deal!
I look forward to learning more from you and hopefully contributing what i have learned to others..
Here's a pic of the prospective purchase and i will respond later once the deal is finalized.

Great news! I bought her earlier today.. she has 3300 mi, mint condition, and a few add-on goodies such as heli-risers, smoked screen, frame sliders, LED heads and tails/turn, fender elim, new Conti front and rear. Got her for 8k which i think is a fair price...
Took her for a ride earlier and whoowee thats fast, over 5k and it starts becoming warp speed lol.. gonna have to keep an eye out when riding thats for sure.. much more smiles per hour than the Concours14 i test rode last week..
For now, she's a bit on the quiet side but after years of roaring pipes, its a welcome change esp when wearing a full helmet not to hear it buzzing and roaring in the helmet.. but maybe down the line ill look into some inexpensive slip ons and i may also look to see if there is another option to raise the bars higher then the 3/4" i think these heli's provide.. something that doesnt require changing out brake lines or any other modifications.. any suggestions before i research that are appreciated..

The good times are now rolling thats for sure :)

P.S.. 22 years ago i got my first street bike, a 95 ZX11, and man have they come a long way since then

Thanks guys! Its kinda tough at the moment waiting for the damn DMV to reopen in a few days (fingers crossed) as id like to get her legal instead of riding dirty. I also figured on a good spot to stick the huge VA inspection sticker when that time comes with a fab'd plate i can screw onto the forward chain guard screw, easy-peasy.
Other than that the bike is amazing and effortless. I may look to do some more comfort modding.. she currently has the Helibar risers at 3/4" but i was reading of others who have stacked a 1" riser on top of it, i see the Black Path ones at 1.25" so if the ABS lines allow that much room to stretch then i could potentially do 2" there total. Im also thinking abut lower footpegs, but on the fence about that as i read someone mention that it changes the dynamic of where your foot normally gets to rest with the stock pegs, not sure if that introduce an issue or not.
And then perhaps down the road may look into slip-ons, something cost-effective such as these that look and sound good:

You may be able to see in my post above , i double stacked risers and a set of grip puppies stretched over a set of bicycle foam grips i picked up at canadian tire for 5 bucks.
Huge difference in comfort !

Yea I can see what you did there, looks great.. I ordered these for $5 off Amazon today and hope the look and feel good, if not they take returns back easily. I also ordered a 1.25" bar riser set from StreetRays today for $50 and may try that alone for now without the Heli Risers and if the extra 1/2" doesn't cut it I'll work on stacking them :)

welcome tknj to the final year of the worlds greatest motorcycle {IMHO} On here you will find countless words of wisdom on extra's and maintenance that should help keep costs where you want them. Take the words of ROOK and HUB together with others on here as the Gospel and you wont go wrong. Welcome again and safe happy riding.

Thanks Taffs.. yes i love the colore scheme as well.. and i agree about the awful cans, even wifey made a comment lol.. but after years of having loud cruisers the quietness of stock and no reverberation in a full helmet is a welcome bonus. but ill probably look into some slip-ons in the future for looks, weight reduction, and slightly more sound
