Speedo and Tack Weirdness
09/25/17 4:54 PM

I've been messing with electronics lately. The modules have all been removed from the tail and going behind the ram air tubes. I just noticed today that the tach and speedo are sitting both at the 2 o'clock position. I did turn the key on a time or two with the tip over sensor disconnected and got the FI ERROR message on the multimeter. I suppose that is all it is and when I turn the key on it will go back to 0?

Backtrack your steps. It's zeroing out (0000 = binary numbers) when key is turned on. However, the CAN has been interrupted say and freezes. That or the tip over sensor kills everything as if turning the key on and that's all she wrote = Freeze/no start.

I guess we'll find out for sure in a few days! I can't say for sure but I might have seen this in the past so I'm not worried. Perhaps it happens after you key OFF and back on again after the error code comes up. I did that. The ECU freezes as soon as the error code comes on the screen but the first time you do it, it takes a few seconds and the clocks have have completed their sweep before it happens. Second time turning the switch, the error code is there as soon as the multimeter powers up and the needles only make it part way around. ?? We'll see.

Are you doing something with your subframe?

Nope, just making room for the nitrous setup. Also, to hook the ignition module up, I would have had to lengthen the wires if I wanted to place it in the tail. There will also be a progressive controller and if I had everything in the tail it would have been very cramped. Probably would have been possible with the passenger seat cut out but I just decided to move the modules.

Forgot to update this thread, sorry. The needles went back to 0 when I got the bike back together and turned the key. It was the error code caused by the disconnected tip over sensor. Been working fine for two years now.

Thanks for the giggle this morning Rook. Started reading not looking at the dates, as I usually do. When I got to your last post, I looked at the date. Better late than never. LOL

I always have the SHOW NEW MESSAGES button clicked. On hayabusa.org they dont have that. I have responded to the OP of many threads that were several years old because somebody necroposted on page 24 or something like that. It's a good thing to complete the idea even if you necropost. Drives me crazy when somebody asks a question and they never come back to post the results. Obvioulsly I do it sometimes too.
