Hey guys just thought I'd homologate a picture and description thread for any of those interested in checking her out. I'll try to list everything that I've done to her and what worked best for me. I bought it in the fall of 2013 with just 1,400 miles on it and traded a 08 CBR1000RR for it. Paid the difference in cash and rode it home. It was bone stock other than the pipes and a useless Guhl flash I didn't even know about until recently. Since then it's been a new experience for me in the hyper bike segment....never owned a bike that weighed over 440 pounds wet before!
I wanted to combine the open-class horsepower and record shattering speed of the ZX14R with the comfort and touring capability of the Concours with no sacrifices on either end. (Chain drive vs shaft drive aside). So far, it has been getting closer each day to that goal. My body positions are 15º back angle, 84º knee angle, and 84º hip angle. Compare this to the connie's 7º back, 86º knee, and 93º hip and you can see how close you can get to a touring bikes comfort level with the right mods. Other things to consider are wind protection, tires, and tech/gadgets to get you across the continent safely, comfortably, and efficiently. Aaaaaand quickly - when you poke the throttle ;)
Everything I have done so far for the touring setup is quick-detach or fully adjustable; so in a few minutes, my bike is like a transformer going from a humble bagged up touring bike with all the comfortable amenities to a unrestrained 9-second beast with the kind of power and torque most riders can only dream about.
