I had a set of one of bikes for a while (Yamaha R3 sportbike) and they DID improve the rearward view a LOT, despite being only one inch thick. However, they were surprisingly heavy too: the pair weighed exactly half a pound. They NEED to be made of a pretty heavy "deadening material so as not to provoke mirror vibration.

I altered my stockers too. I moved them in tighter.....Good vision..the stockers work quiet well for me , steady view, good range..
The only thing I dont like is they are kink ofa ain to switch out for racing.I have a couple of bar end mirrors for between racing and teh stockeers go back on for traveling.

chrly, don't you remove your mirrors for racing and just use block off plates or do you like being able to literally see your competition eating your dust? :)
But seriously asking the question and for the tracks I have been on racers are required to tape up any glass (eg, mirrors & headlights) in case someone drops the bike they don't want broken glass all over the track. But your forum picture shows the mirrors installed and no tape on your lights...

NM , You are sort of correct.. Our Drag strips do not require taping but Road Race courses do ..For Land Speed Racing , I use block off plates and since I am headed for teh Texas mile in three weeks, I have block offs on mow and I use Bar end mirrors temporarily cause they are easy to take off. I will switch back to my stock mirrors when I return from Texas cause I really like them for teh street..
And no, I don't use the mirrors to check at the strip :)
My avatar shows teh stock mirrors before I shortened them.

I have a pair I would sell for cheap, but to be honest, anyone with minimal skills could make a set out of wood or plastic and get some longer bolts to attach the mirrors at the local hardware store. The ones I have look to be pressed fiberboard.
