I'm not sure, maybe not with that chain guide in there. I've considered removing it but I'm not sure if that's a great idea. It might be a safety feature and I'm sure it controls the mess of chain lube.

Why not go down a couple teeth in back? Shave weight while you're at it.

Going down 2 is certainly an option but I don't want to lengthen the wheelbase.

Regarding the chain "guide", are we talking about the chain guard or the protective piece on the swingarm? I would think the swing arm would not be an issue because the sprocket is bigger. I haven't looked, but I can't imagine the space under the chain guard is that tight where a 1 tooth larger sprocket would create interference.

I've been using an 18T on my drag bike with no issues. I do have the front chain guide around the countershaft sprocket removed for weight reduction however I believe it'll fit. Will be simple enough to check, 3 small bolts to remove if not, they are locktited from the factory though. Hope this helps, Aloha...

Thanks. for the heads up. Gonna try it out. I know I'll lose a bit of acceleration, but with my light weight (around 140 lbs with gear), and BST wheels, might be OK.

The Hayabusa doesn't have that thing. The sprocket cover may control the fling but I doubt it would do much if the chain broke. I think that inner guide under the sprocket cover is meant to direct the chain around and out the bottom of the cover instead of bunching up under the sprocket cover.

There's a picture of it in my sprocket change titorial. It's the Gen1 of course but I imagine the setup is the same on the Gen2.
