In order to help being seen while stopped in traffic, I added a pair of additional brake lights. I bought 2 of the super bright LED 1156 bulbs and mounted them inside the rear turn singnal housing. This was a simple mod that took about an hour, but if it saves me from getting blasted, it was well worth the time.
Used a dremel tool to cut the hole in the reflector and connected the wires right to the bulb(No room for a socket).
Hard to see the brightness in this pic, but compare them to the stock light with the brakes on.

Does the bulbs block you signal light from the side ? looks like it might just a little ????

Also I would be tempted to hook it up so it can work as a signal light as well if its a two filment bulb ?

you would think it would. Since the led bulb support part is made from clear plastic, signal view from the side is still good. I thought about making it a signal also but they only had the single 1156 replacement. It could easily be done that way though and if I find them, I will make that update.
