When we sit on the bike, we speak right is right, left for left.
On the right fuel injector body, find a hose that runs off one of the brass fittings. It has to be real long and not the intake hose for the sensor. This is larger than the 4 coming off all the injector bodies. So the hose is large and enters into the emissions box.
If we take the seat off, there may be a hose on the right side and that goes down to the emissions box, so either off the tank or off the # 3-4 injector brass hose nipples you'll find the box.

Remove seat. Find rear fuse box, and rear master res filler cap. We see a black box with 2 hoses coming out of the one end? Then no, not emissions related bike.
With seat still off, count how many hoses stick out the back of the gas tank. 2 says there is no canister. 3 nipples out the back says you have a hose going to a pump to the box to the tank. So besides the long cigar case laying in the center of the fender, the little tomato sauce can with the hoses coming out of that and the can is bolted to the seat rail, we should find those 2 guys or not.
Only your rear tank nipples knows for sure.

do you have a California model? If not I don't think you have the box / canister.
