my zx is finally unleashed... now going to install PC3
05/19/09 1:23 AM

Hi everyone,

So finally today I got around to removing the flies from my 07. I added a post to the other thread in performance mods section to explain how I used a propane torch to get the screw driver hot and to use that to warm up the screws.

Anyhow, I went for a ride and I agree, this is what this bike should have been.

I have also removed the TRE008 that I had on the bike, but haven't had a chance to go for a ride after removing the TRE. I will be installing the PC3 tomorrow morning (about 10 hours from posting this thread). I seem to remember some people were having grounding issues or what not (posts from the previous board.)

I am going to follow the instructions, then set the throttle inputs, and try and load in a map that is close to my setup (scorpio slip ons, stock filter, flies out.) In the ones that dynojet provides, there is one that has Muzzy slip on with the rest of the setup same as mine... I will try that as that is the closest thing I have right now. I will most likely do a custom map in the next week or two.

Any feedback you can provide to any of the above is appreciated.

sounds like you're having fun wrenching on your bike faz. i think we all enjoy making changes and seeing what our labor has produced. personally, i say go full exhaust before getting the custom tune, but if you don't plan on ever getting a full exhaust, the tune will help with the slipons too. just keep havin' fun

Thanks reeves...

it is always fun working on the bike... just no time with the baby and work and all.

No plans to go full exhaust... not looking for much more performance gains of any kind... slip ons do sound nice and look good in carbon fiber on my diablo black.

I am not sure though whether the TRE that I had on it actually caused any 'timing retard elimination' as well or not. I went for a quick ride yesterday after taking off the flies but with the TRE still in, and loved the difference between no flies and flies in. Then I took out the TRE but didn't get a chance to ride it back to back. This morning I took the bike for a quick ride again, and it feels still just as quick (kinda), and I love having the gear indicator back... but I kinda sorta felt that it was not as responsive as it was yesterday... now I am thinking perhaps the 6th gear mapping does include some timing changes as well. Again, I am not looking for any 'more' performance, so I won't be keeping the TRE on there one way or another... but just a general observation that may very well be flawed due to my not riding the bike back to back.

PC3 installation and setup went very well, and now the bike runs like a dream. There is no way I can say whether the current map is the best one for the bike, but the engine is running buttery smooth, on/off throttle is almost perfect, and you get on the gas and the bike wants to rip your arms off. (I am running the map from Dynojet itself, with Muzzy slip ons (I have Scorpio slip ons), stock filter, and flies off.)

This is the machine I have always wanted.

those dynojet maps aren't the best but they do a decent job. as long as you're happy that's all that really matters. just don't lose any limbs faz
