What range of choices for lighter and corrosion resistant kickstand?
02/14/19 10:14 PM

1. Has the kickstand changed from Gen 1 to gen 2, or for any model year(s)?

2. Also, do I need specifically a "ZX-14" or "ZX-14R" kickstand, or are kickstand mounting systems and dimensions "standardized" across Kawasaki sportbikes, or even ALL Japanese sportbikes?

I want a different than OEM kickstand, for my 2017 ZX-14R, made of aluminum, non-adjustable, for these reasons:

- Lighter weight
- More corrosion resistant, since the kickstand, especially its base, is obviously very vulnerable to corrosion
- Non-adjustable, as that SHOULD result in a lighter kickstand, since it requires no moving parts and the fasteners needed to secure them in any position.

I am also concerned about potential quality of many of the less expensive Chinese kickstands.

What is my range of reliably safe choices?

You also might want to consider getting rid of the switch. I believe I also saw pics of a modded kickstand mount that was carved down to reduce weight. Just don't forget to put the side stand up and don't sit on the bike supported by the side stand.

Thanks Rook for that very useful link! I do want to keep the switch feature if I can. I almost always remember to lift the sidestand, but once or twice I have not (usually when in a group and distracted), so prefer to keep it.
