to make a long story short--had to pull my gas tank, now i can not find the
specs in the service manual to torque it back down--anyone know what page it's on?

Pg. 2-6 thru 2-11. Turn to page, 2-11... "Basic Torque Spec's" shows a 6mm screw torque value. That is the size of the thread diameter for the tank bolts, not the bolt head size you be using a 10mm box end wrench to tighten it. So, anything with less than 7ft/lbs or hand tight so you do not tear out the threads in the frame is fair game.
I hand tight the bolts to where they just snug up to about 5 pounds or less. I never aim for a flat inch pound, but more how that thread in the aluminum feels. You lock that Archimedes screw and she is not going to loosen up too soon with a good loose [but tight] bite.
