New 14R in VA
02/08/12 4:02 AM

Hello,

Picked up a Black 14R from Ridersville Kawasaki in Berkley Spring, WV...$12,747 OTD. I still have to pay to register and tax in VA but am please with the deal.

Took the front reflectors off and tank sticker...first thing.

Guess you'll have to take the rear fender apart to get at those rear reflectors...right? According to the schematics, they look to be attached to a plate. Anybody address this?

Mountain rider here and can't wait to test this girl in the twisties.

Dan

Where in VA ?

I'm riding in the NW parts quite often during riding season. Love coming down VA 211 out of the mountains to Sperryville.

Also love WV 39 headed west to east, almost to US 81.

Rt. 50 ain't bad, either, over around Aurora.

Congratulations on your new purchase. I also drove to WVa to get my 14R. I grew up in Beckley in the southern part of the state so I jump at any excuse to head back that way. There is some of the most gorgeous riding I've ever experienced anywhere in the world in the vicinity of southern West Virginia and northward along the Shenandoah valley.

Enjoy your new motor!

I'm in Bluemont, VA and hit all the back roads thoughout Western Virginia and West Virginia. I ride many 200 - 300 mile loops which fold in Thorton's gap on Rt. 211 and many others. Love 50W around Aurora also. That's my playground. Also like all of the Appalachian roads from PA/OH down to Georgia. All the east/west roads in VA/WV like 39, 33, 55 and 250 are all very nice. Privateer, maybe we can hook up in the spring. Like to ride every weekend at least one full day. Therapy, you know.

I'm not a main road kinda guy and love to find back road nirvana. I also have a 02 SE Busa and like it a lot (don't hold that against me). Been looking at the ZX14's for the last couple years and wanting to buy for a nice comparison.

Be Safe,
Dan

Have fun on yer new spaceship!Look under the fender there...see those bolts?.....Remove seat.Remove tool box.Remove those bolts.Fender will drop down.Unhook the license lamp plug by the tool box area there...that small black one.Easy.Remove fender and wiring.Reinstall the tool box...BUT...be very careful when you begin to thread those bolts back in.They can crossthread VERY EASY.If they immediately feel like they're binding...back out and restart again.DO NOT OVERTIGHTEN those tool box bolts. You can put some black tape or something over those holes(stick on the underseat side, not the fender side) in there to keep moisture out until you can get a license plate bracket .

I used a set of Connie hooks(from a Connie seat latch assembly),attached em with some allen bolts(the ones like the fairing bolts)(larger diameter)(Nuts on the inside of the body work...on either side of the tool box)...and then fashioned two small strips of bendable sheet strap for the actual plate bolts.

Sounds like a great price. What did the $12,747 include? Base price + freight + prep + docs?
