how to lift the front wheel of the ground ?
03/19/22 10:11 AM

Original jack - 57001-1238 to lift the front wheel off the ground

In the serice manual it sais that in order to lift the front wheel from the ground I have to use this origianl jack.

Till now I lift the bike from the fork (or from the tripple clump) but in both cases I have to take of the fender in order for the wheel to come out, between the fender and the stand.

I wanted to avoid this so I looked and saw it here:
https://www.partzilla.com/product/kawasaki/57001-1238

My question is:
from where it lift the ZX14 ???

It seems that in oder to use this origianl tool I have to take off the lower fairing (in my case it is the entire sides)

Is it ?

Thanks a lot

(Just to emphasis:
The front fork stand gives me access to take the wheel off.
Than, in order to really take it out, I have to roll it above the stand, and the front fender is on the way so I have take the fender off.
So I ask if someone has the original jack, how it grabs the bike ?
cause it looks it needs to take the fairing off

Thanks

I just know some one is gonna ask if you have tried twisting the throttle .....

Luckily I have a centerstand on the bike so I do not have an issue

I've never heard of anyone owning the Kawasaki jack shown on that link. It's an ordinary scissor jack. You roll the bike up on the platform track of the jack and then turn the screw on the jack with a special handle that fits to the screw. You would still need to use a rear stand to hold the bike up if you use this jack to lift the front wheel up. If you wanted to remove the front wheel, you would need to lower the jack and rest the fork bottoms on the included jack stands. I think that's going to cause damage to the paint on the fork bottoms. I would be even more concerned that those jack stands would tip over, the base on them is very small. I also see those jack stands have pins and I do not think the ZX-14's fork bottoms have holes to admit such pins....I remember a thread from long ago where a front stand with pins was a problem. It may be that the a front stand with pins works for other Kawasakis but not the ZX-14? Hard to say if you need to remove the lower fairings to use this jack. If the wheel were centered on the platform, the back of the platform might hit the chin of the lower fairings. Think about the diameter of the tire though....the rim is 16 inches so probably that platform would clear the lower fairing just fine.

Anyway, wouldn't you much prefer the rubber pads on the front stand you now have to lift under your forks? It's not too big of a deal to remove the fender bolts. There are no worries about the front end falling after the front wheel is removed. I would not bother with trying this Kawasaki jack. You already have the best you can get if you own a triple tree/fork lift stand. Just take the fender off to get the wheel out.

LOL English is my only language and it still took me a few seconds to get that one! Delayed rection laughs are always best. ....he means, "twist the throttle and the front will lift off the ground!!"

The Original jack - 57001-1238 is from the service manual of the ZX14R
I don't think it meant to be used for lifting the fork
I think it meant to be used for lifting from the frame (but I don't remember how the bike looks without the fairings.

so I wonder if someone use such a thing, and not for lift the exhausts

Thanks

You may be able to only loosen the back bolts on your fender and remove the front bolts. Then you pivot the front of the fender up to take the wheel out.

Hi

That's what I do today :-)

But when the stand is at this height

I have to take off the entire fender.

When I adjust it to its highest position, it is possible only to loosen the back bolts and to remove the front ones.
(but than it is very hard to lift the bike on the stand)

I thought that if Kawasaki recommends on some jack, maybe it is a good idea to examine this solution

Thanks

I've used the stand like in the picture that lifts from the bottom of the fork. Warning use
a PitBull or some other sturdy type. On mine the stand flexed inwards when I removed the wheel and made it a bitch to get back in. Now I use a Pit Bull triple tree stand. Much better. In either case, just remove the 2 side bolts on the front fender and you can rotate the fender enough to slide the wheel out.

Really flexed inwards ?
I thought that PitBull is a good company.

So now you lift from the lower triple clump ?
Thanks

Perhaps Maddevil's forklift stand flexed because the height adjusters are bolted on. It also looks like the part that goes under the fork is an interchangeable piece that snaps in with a sliding pin. That might move. The forks themselves might flex under the weight of the bike with no wheel between them. I have always favored the fork lift to the steering pivot lift for removing a wheel. I never had a problem.

Who said center stand, lyt? That's even money. You want a stand that takes a pin thru the tube of the trip tree. Just what Kruz said, it's going to be a bitch to float the axle. That stand is more fore tire warmers, not wheel work.

Whereas, the centerstand can be held at the pivot point of the front wheel just hovering where you can pull the front axle out with your fingers. It won't drop because you have anchored with tie-downs at the rear.

I think you mean Maddevil. His 14 looks like Kruz's.

Yes, what Madd said. Red bike it was.

Abba stand. Also will allow to remove forks, steering stem, rear shock, etc. for maintenance.

The first stand I used that lifted from the bottom of the fork was NOT a Pit Bull
What I said was if you want to use that kind of stand, make sure its heavy duty.

I would use nothing but heavy duty for any kind of stand. Lifting the bike always entails som erisk and once it's done, I don't want to have to worry about a stand failing. Man you drop a bike riding, that's life. If a bike drops off a stand, that sucks! That should never happen. You have all the time you want to be careful so why not be careful about the strength of the stand? If I had time to be as careful riding as I am wrenching, I'd just walk.

Hi All

I know it is an old thread but I open it cause I bought this Original scissor jack - 57001-1238 - but the cardboard arrived rip and I think some small pin fall of the parcel.

Anyone own this specific jack ??
this one
May I ask what are pin A and B ?
(it was written on the instructions but I got only one pin)

Also @piken - I bought the ABBA but, again, my friend brought with him only half of the parts from England.

Thanks
