Rear wheel click
08/10/10 6:38 PM

My bike is a stock 2008 zx14 with 1600mi. I was rolling it in the garage today and heard a click-click-clunk coming from the rear wheel hub. It's not really a roughness or grinding like a bad bearing, just a clicking several times per wheel revolution. Any suggestions before I take the rear wheel apart would be appreciated.

my buddies 14 did the same thing it turned out the hub bearing was bad. the give away on it was a brake like dust all over the wheel.

but could also be the chain if you havent lubed it latley like the last 500 miles or so

Im going to say the chain. They have tight spots sometimes. Thats pretty low miles for the hub bearing to have a problem. I did pull mine and installed a better sealed bearing, I couldnt believe it when I saw that it wasn't a sealed bearing from the factory.

To much to list!

I'd go with that first also. re-tighten the chain and retorque the wheel.

Might want to check the brake pads also. Sometimes they'll do that.

Same thing here. When I change direction from forward to backward or visa versa, I get a slight "click" sound that happens to be a brake pad shifting in a caliper. No big deal I suppose.
