Oh, now slightest bump. I feed as if there are so many variables, forget this one then. That was a good knock over some railroad tracks or a good bump or a patch that has a rise over so it flattens out but not from you. If you have a camera, the kid can hold on to you and swing the camera on both sides, behind and in front of you.

Yeah, at this point, better take everything off so you have a better view. Then again, you want to test a cracked frame with him on the back? More you better find that chaffing on the parts you remove. Yeah, flex might mean anything from reinstalling a fairing part that is etching a corner or something to a broken frame. I doubt that frame is the culprit. It would have collapsed already is my ass some son as sons would go for a ride?

That's WATT I'm ear for... Diagnostics even a kid can figure out!

DaddYO

Keep the eyesharp, kid! It's there somewhere. Think it through. Walk around the bike if it's all stripped down. Keep looking if not keep looking at design. See how one connects to the other to make bike. Thousands of parts to make, thousands to assemble. WOThe heck did daddy do to our beloved?

No one has a knock but dear 'ol dad. You only have one and that is your real pal. I meant in the garage.

Maybe you ran over a midget I'm thinking...? And he's pissed off because he's been wedged in between your oil pan and the header?

I could be the shock hitting the swing arm. On lowerd and streched bikes the clearence of the shock pass through changes.
Also as to cracked motor mount there are two triangle mounts one on each side of the motor just looking at it you might not be able to see that it maybe cracked ,I couldn't and when I pulled the bike apart one just fell in two peaces. So loosen one or two bolts to make sure.
Check your frame to see if they did a recall check on it I believe they put a punch mark by the vin number. the check is free or it should be it only takes one day to do if it is not cracked. But seriously man don't ride her till you figure this one out call dealer ship make appt. Drop it off, pick it up, sleep better
Is your chain the right one for your sprocket is it loose, hows its allinement just some things to look at hope you figure it out man

ps no kid on bike until your 100% sure frame is not cracked . jus sayin

I THINK I GOT IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11111 i took the lower fairings off and the sound is way diff now and i can now tell its coming from the rear of the bike i now believe its my chain bouncing and hitting the top of the swing arm when i stop the bike and do it by hand it sounds exactly the same. This could ecplain why it only happens over bumps and not during shifting, theres no movement in the motor is this normail can it be fixed? its extened now eith the right tension but the chain almost rests on the swing arm at a stop.

just read your post xxx i really believe its my chain hitting the chain guard on the swing arm i just checked it i think the reason for this is because when i stretched it i didnt want to lower it so the center of the bike sits higer and the rear sprocket lower bringing the chain closer to the swing arm.

its amazing how taking one piece of plastic off changes the sound it made it more clear and i was able to tell is was coming from swing arm and not under my tank
