Front brake issues
04/22/20 12:30 PM

So I'm having a weird issue with my front brakes.

If the bike sits for longer than approximately 2 weeks, when I grab the lever for the first time it will go straight to the grip but quickly pump up with no further issues. Ridden daily or even a week apart you would never know this issue even exists and they function normally. About 5 months ago I did flush the entire front and rear brake system with new fluid, but this issue started approximately 2-3 months ago. Thoughts?

Is the level dropping at all? If you hold pressure on the brake will it slowing bleed down? Sounds like a small leak or air.

Thanks for the response. I just rebled everything and got two small air bubbles out of the master cylinder. Feels tons better now.

I have a 2008 that had that problem. I would bleed the brakes and all ok for 2 weeks then problem is back. Next was the bleeder on the MC where I just open then close it and problem was solved for 2 weeks. I finally rebuilt the MC 2 years ago and no problem since then.

Thanks for that. If the problem reoccurs, I’ll look into a rebuild of the MC.

Thank you for the link to the recall. It might be worth upgrading the master cylinder (RCS19) at he time to the Brembo unit rather than repair the old unit.

You bet, busa... I like comparing the history of 15 years worth of the 14's production, and here is another minor fix for the kawi line. Yammie is the king of 'get your act together' or we might soon see just the big3 instead.
