Mobil 1 racing oil --change yearly?
04/03/22 9:39 AM

Gents, I'm running Mobil1 10w-40 4T Racing Oil in my 2015 ZX14R. 2021 was a busy year for us so I didn't put more than 1k on the motorcycle since the oil change.

Ok to run the oil for another year or should I drain and change? Motorcycle is garaged in Texas. Kaw filters.

Thanks!

I probably would have ran it. Nothing happens to the oil with the bike sitting in storage. I stored mine with 1000 miles on the oil once but I normally change the oil right before storage so there's fresh oil coating the internal parts. ...then again, there's not so fresh oil coating the internal parts all summer if you only put a thousand miles on it and that never seemed to hurt my bike. If you miss a couple shifts, that's a signal that the oil is worn out.

The New Ducati V4 Multistrada has gone to a longer oil change interval.

The “Oil Service”, which is done every 15000 km / 9000 mi or 24 months

I know my Bike is 10 years older, but this is what I do now is 5000 miles or 2 years.
With new oil, the transmission shifts much smoother.

I also use Mobil 1 4T, and only put 1000 fairly gentle miles on my bike this year. I didn't change it when I put it up.

That puppy will last longer the more you change it. What oil that highest miler used I don't think matters. The trick is a flush every thousand with a bike for sure. On top of the air cleaner changes, and extra hundred-k.
