What is this for
06/11/18 1:28 PM

Trying to figure out what this push button switch is for ???
Its just under the horn button on the left clip on and is so neatly installed I assumed it was an original when I bought the bike last summer. The PO is still stationed in IRAQ and I have no contact info for him.

That is the type of bracket sold by DynoJet to install a map switch.

That does not look like the kind of switch they use however but you can use any kind of ON/OFF switch you want.

Does the bike have a PC5 or Ignition Module? If it does check to see if there are any small wires going into the open ports in the side. Two would lead to that switch if it is Map switch or AutoTune switch.

If this is any switch connected to your PC5, I would not ride unless you know what feature it is connected to and if that feature is enabled in the module. Most likely, it would not harm anything if it is a race map (actually less agressive fueling/timing) but who knows what it is. You'd need to get a laptop out on the bike with the Control Center software and view the mapping.

Or it might be a nitrous switch. The push button looks like it's probably an intermittent which would be the thing for NOS. LOL better check if you got that!

The bike has a PC3 installed and there's also this little gizmo under the seat that I forgot about. I will check for that wire connection tomorrow. I have been riding it since I bought it without any issues other than a slight hiccup that comes and goes 1 time when I whack the throttle . I'm thinking its in need of a remap due to changing out the exhaust because the hiccup started after the exhaust swap.

this 1 is under my seat

I just removed that very same red wire from my bike. It was a left over from the PO. Mine was meant to connect in line with the speed censor plugs near the sprocket cover. Looked to me to be a speedohealer of some kind but I wasn't sold the box you have with the bike. Just the disconnected wire.

Maybe one of these.

There have been a few on the market. I have a Speedohealer and like it very much. Also a Bonnevill Pro I have never tried out. They all have white plugs that connect inline with the speed sensor on the Gen1. Speed sensor is on the Gen1 sprocket cover. Connectors are above.

Step 5 and I have good pics of the speedohealer installation if you need them.

LOL I'm not sure I'd just unplug it until you know what it is. If it's a speedo corrector, I'd keep it on if your speedo seems accurate.

That button could be a top speed recall button if it goes to the sapeedo corector---assuming that's what that thing is.

Both ends of the one I found in my bike. Like I said, not hooked up just ran from the speed censor connector.

The box looks like a Speedo Healer.

Someone at the racetrack told me it looked like a early model ZX-14 speedo heeler box missing the top cover.
My bike does sometimes display 5th gear when cruising in 6th gear and if I remember correctly that was 1 of the issues I read about but from all Ive read and seen so far it does not look like 1 to me plus I thought they all were digital.

LOL Looks like you found pics of GGBrown's bike! I even see a button like his in the top pic. I thought that might be a TSR button but I didn't know the old SH had that.

Thanks guys. Now I have a much better understanding of what it is and does.
I think I'll leave it alone for now until I find out what other mods if
any have been done / added to the bike. Don't want to remove it and screw up
my Summer riding season.

egad! I thought the SHv4 was a little complicated to set.

If you have the v3, here's the users manual.

I never touch mine. After it was set the speedo was dead on up to 90 mph according to Garmin. I believe it must be very accurate above 90 as well. The only thing that throws it off is tire wear makes the speedo read a couple percent higher and I've never worried about that.

If you set your speedo low, you can stop the TSL from triggering limp mode. I've heard you can set it for kph on a mph speedo and have accurate speedo reading as fast as the bike will go up to 300 mph. Otherwise set it to -25% and that should do the trick. -50% is recommended to avoid wheel spin speedo error,
