Factory Touring Seat
06/04/15 12:04 AM

I've been reading about the Factory Touring seat that Kawasaki makes for the 2015 Concours. They are using the ZX14r seat pan. The Concours' guys are saying it is about an inch higher than stock. The Concours stock seat is one inch higher than the ZX14 seat, so this new seat could be around 32-33" off the ground and looks like our stock seat without the slope into the tank.
It has a non-slide surface, too.

MSRP is $534.
You can get it for $401 from www.powersportswarehouse.com use search by part number 99994-0500 Kawasaki 2015 Concours. Use coupon code FRSP for free shipping. You can read about it over on cog-online.org these guys like it.
I'm sure our passenger cowl will not fit.
It is supposed to be great for the passenger, too.

I've pulled the trigger, waiting for a big box to arrive.
I was thinking about Laam seats and doing a "ride in", but I've heard he is swamped. Rick Mayer went through a divorce and kept many rider's down deposit $$. Laam supposedly worked for one of the Mayer's seat building business to get his own experience/tips.

I just got an email from powersportswarehouse.com , the package is considered an oversized package and requires the $17.85 postage. So, do not use the promotional code of FRSP for the Touring Seat. Otherwise, your order will be delayed.
I called them by phone to finish the order.

That's a hell of a lot cheaper than a private party can ship a seat. I shipped my husky seat via UPS to the maker of it's aftermarket seat foam/cover for repairs and it cost me almost $65.

Keep us posted when you get this. Wondering how it fits on the zx14r.

I got it yesterday. The Touring seat is taller than our stock by about 1.5". The Vinyl surface is definitely non-slide material. The foam feels a little softer than the ZX14 foam. Kawasaki used a layer of plastic sheeting underneath the Vinyl.
The passenger pad is about 3.5" thick. A definite improvement for the passenger and the same non slide surface.
I removed a 1" thick foam pad off the bottom of the Touring pan and transferred both latches.
I have a 31" inseam and still can flat foot in the garage.
I have to throw my leg higher to clear the passenger pad.
I plan to get an extended ride tomorrow. The weather service promises less rain.

Our seat is 30.5" Touring seat 32.0" But the foam is softer on top and I probably settle 1/2" into the pad.

Looks Great! Let us know on the comfort. I bought a concours seat for mine and am happy with it but you know... other stuff is sooo tempting!

Pretty much looks stock which is nice. Did you have to switch the seat latch bracket? (middles)

I rode for 160 miles yesterday. It was comfortable, much better than my stock seat.
The Bike sat in the Sun (93 degrees) for 2 hours and the seat was not hot.
2015 Kawasaki changed Concours seat to look and be more firm like ours.
I think this is 2015 Concours seat with an added top pad.
Yes, both latches needed transferred.
2015 Concours stock is $415.
The Touring seat is $401.
I checked over at cog-online.org and no one is selling their 2015 Concours stock seat.
If you carry a passenger, the touring seat is the one to get.
If you don't like it, there are many buyers for the seat at cog-online

I just came home from 2333 mile ride to Arkansas. The Concours Touring Seat was good for about 150 miles at a stretch. The Vinyl never gets hot. I like our seat size because you can move around. I have about a 32" inseam and can flat foot the Bike. I'm 64 years old and am worn out; my joints ache on any Bike. This is a good addition to my Bike for traveling.
