As the bike is rolled onto the sidestand, the stand becomes more vertical, so while the total load may increase slightly, The leverage on the stand and it's mounting bracket is actually reduced. The part of the load that is normally on the rear tire is transferred to the jack, not the sidestand.
I made a similar stand for the KTM out of an old easy-up frame for lubing the chain while out on the road. Lighter and cheaper than the Snapjack and works like a charm. I use a velcro strap on the front brake for safety.
