The Sinister dragon is home
03/30/12 5:23 PM

On schedule..... 11am handed over my 11 Ninja 1K, and some cash... scrubbed out the tires for a few hours now finally home... and my cheeks hurt(the top ones)from 70 miles of non-stop grinning.. I wanted to get at least 200 miles in today but the guys at the dealership were a bunch of cackling hens,, they don't shut up,, don't get me wrong I was cackling as well... just love that group
your description of this bike is spot on.. someone mentioned DNA from the ZX10R...abso..fuckin..lutely,,and It handles just as good as it looks,, I can say the handling is very similar to my 08 blade, (light on its feet) just not as flickable, but it manages quite well navigating quick weaving patterns through moderate to heavy volume traffic.. basically did what I wanted it to do
I was afraid the riding position would aggrevate my injuries and have me selling or trading back to another upright ride,, so far It does not, I do have a little pain just slightly more than what I feel on a regular basis..at the end of the day...again nothing to make me go running and eating some Vikes
I'm guessing, with more saddle time, the lesser the pain will be, as the muscles that I haven't used to assume this riding position will eventually will be re-conditioned and strenghten up...well so far these are my first impressions
forgot to mention the power,, what can I say HOLY SHIT IS THIS WHAT IT'S LIKE TO HAVE OVER 1000CC'S...now I know what I've been missing... and again I'm just impressed overall on how well this bike handles...Makes my Ninja 1000 that was set up for me...feel like a log... left it in full power and traction 1.. it did break loose a couple of times..early on gonna blame new tires and somewhat soft factory suspension settings... mind you this is out of the box..suspension not set up to my stats yet.. CAN'T WAIT!!!! and speaking of cheeks my lower ones seem to like the seat actually feels narrower than the ninja 1K... anyway here she is and man does she have a fat ass

Super! Congrats, and welcome to the owner's group! Its a beauty, looks just like mine only NOT blue.

It is surprising just how well this beast turns, isn't it. And the brakes are much better than the old oem 14's.
Found that out fer sure in an emergency stop just the a couple days ago.

BTW, what kind of flooring is your 14R parked on? I need to re-do my garage flooring surface this summer and that looks unique and possibly very durable yet impact absorbing. Am I wrong?

I cant get enough of this kind of feedback. Heres a guy that had a liter bike and look what the 14r did to him.
I had a v-twin cruiser and stepped up to the 14r... its as if im on a different planet... or plane of existence.

Thanks All...this thing is just awesome,, +1 on the brakes, and they bedded in quick.. good power with one finger
really just overall great performer right out of the box... now got me thinking.. this is a sub $15K bike,,wonder what those bikes in the $18K and + range feel like..

Paul,,that's a dance floor, bad idea for a garage floor finish.. does look unique in the pictures
I recently moved so renting the back of a commercial space till something else comes up
my last residence which had a real garage I used epoxy garage/basement paint and vinyl snap together tiles
by the work bench area

gear indicator and shift light..... How nice is that!!
Realized it towards the end of the ride, at a light staring at the cluster trying to
Figure out where 50-70 mph mark is ,, saw that "N" in the corner,
and discovered rhe shift light after reading the owners manual
I've mistaken the 80-100 range as the 50-70, So that means I was buzzing around coming
close 100 mph all the time,,,ummm not good, Just very deceiving... Not unless the clock is way off,
for now I put a small strip of blue tape on the bezel as an indicator,,
haven't had a bike with analog clocks in along time, or possibly this is the first
Honestly just don't remember,,just something else to familiarize myself with..
Used to digital displays spitting out huge numerals for mph
Btw- moderate(20-25) crosswinds at highway speeds don't disrupt this bike
Guess its weight and general shape helps

Yes, the aerodynamics of this design work fantastic. I wear a Shoei X-11 helmet which practically eliminates my head from buffeting at speed and even while passing a large truck on the open highway the bike stays steady and straight.

Glad you're enjoying the new purchase! I also like the Akropovic pipes but they're too rich for my blood.

I think Grn14 is using the CS ONE slip ons by vance and hines. I think i prefer their "tetragonal" shape to the akros. I definitely prefer the price... approx
$900 from dennis kirk.

Personally, I like the look of the yosh r-77 single system as well as the Akrapovic single sided carbon (Evolution?) but it's apparently not out yet. Oh, but those are full systems. I just want something that'll lose 20-30 lbs. off the bike, but looks good and picks up a little power. We'll see.

She's got trans-warp drive.

I like the looks of the CS also....Originally looked at the VH but it didnt list for 2012
Prefer the price as well for just slip on... Could use that other G for other stuff
