Woolich Logbox

All, I have asked Woolich racing about the development of a logbox for the 14R like what they have for the Hayabusa. I was informed that they are working on such a critter. FYI!

The Log Box is available to the Kawasaki Clan finally.
Will be an awesome bit of kit when they get live view up and running.
I have held off with the data logger for the bike to see which way this would go.
I have gone for the Zeitronics as this will give me what I have been missing so far.
Thanks for getting it to Market Mr Woolich and Crew....
I'm sure it will be a big hit.
I'll let you know how I go improving what is a some what slow quarter mile bike in my case.
It has to get quicker once we can see what its up to...

It's finally here. I'm all over this, as it's going to help me become more interactive with my bike. I'm looking forward to learning how it's brain is working.

It's definitely not a box where you keep your logs!

^^^don't take the first two pages of that thread seriously. Info starts on p3 when Woolie himself shows up..

Has anyone here picked one of these up yet? If so, lets hear a report on self-tuning from someone unaffiliated with the company. I'm very interested in the product, but with little ECU/Programming/Mapping experience it could prove to be a lesson in biting off more than I can chew.

I've watched the videos on YouTube about the Log Box and it looks fantastic! (Doubt it would work on my MacBook Pro however). The only problem I see is when altering the fuel and ignition tables...........how should I know what I need to do??? It would take me years and thousands of reflashes to painstaking add or remove fuel from each cell and go ride it to see the difference. I have no idea where to start, how to maintain a safe AFR, gain power and not lose any... See what I mean? Yeah the software provides the everyday Joe the equipment a dyne tuner would use, but we don't know what to do with it. So in that regard it makes more sense for me to get an off-the-shelf tune from Brocks/Guhl

Man I need to buy myself a Dyno and mount it in a huge trailer to pull around the states...

Well who is the mystery man! Sounds like you might be talking about 2 different people? Lol.

I'm a very techie type of guy so I'd love nothing more than to program my own ECU, but unless I know what I'm doing in the tables it may only make it worse. This is why I'm leaning towards an off the shelf flash. Top of the list so far is the 'Guhl/Brocks 2' flash. I'd like to have my bike dyno'ed also but these guys aren't in my neck of the woods.

We are all taking about the same dude. Cblast. He's on here somewhere.

I tell you what, before you make your decision on the flash I will lend you my ecu this spring to use while I am busy in the fields planting. You will like cblasts flash he has his much more fine tuned than Brock's.

Corn - I'd LOVE to get some back-to-back comparisons.... That would be the most PURE definition of an eye opener. Ride a set route around the area with the stock ECU and stop at home, switch to Cblast's flash and repeat. Same time of day, same road, tires, everything. I want to learn how to wheelie this thing safely and intentionally, instead of just by accident.

I have a feeling that the work done with attention to the secondary plates would make that a no brainer. Cause right now if I whack it into throttle I'm feeling the neutered acceleration of the safety mode.

I can't wait to get out on the bike again! It's relatively new to me still, so there's the eagerness of looking forward to learning its every detail. Plus I'm accumulating a living room full of expensive parts too!!

Lets RIDE

Can you guys not spam up every thread with dribble.
You have your own post whore threads for that.
Cheers

Bradley427. On your genuine question.

Most guys are receiving the first ones now. Mine goes on the bike over the next day.
I'll report back on it and its features but Woolich has info up on them at the Link further up.
The Data Logging screen looks promising already..

I'll highjack HB3BUTLER Thread so most of the stuff will be easy to find instead of having multiple threads.

Rip the box open and then start to rip the bike open..

Stripped the bike and fitted it up over yesterday and today.

Headers have to come off as the Kawasaki Narrow Band is M14 thread by the looks vs the M18 of the
Bosch Unit supplied with the ZT-3.
It will be nice when they can offer the wideband in the Kawasaki Stock Thread.

The headers have to come off to weld in the bung.

One thing that did come to light was the cylinder banks are divided in the stock header.
The top of the collector samples the left bank and the lower section samples the right bank.
I drilled through the divider that you may be able to make out in the picture so all cylinders are sampled in the collector.

From then on in its a just a matter of laying it out and fitting the harness.
If you don't have the on bike harness already fitted that extra step isn't covered here.
The unit lays out easily in the void but I mounted the log box itself on top of the TRC ECU at the rear.

As the bike harness was already on and this suited the existing wiring.

There is a simple switched relay wiring harness to be made and the relay fits well.
You basically power the relay directly from the Battery and then 12V switch the relay to turn on both the ZT-3 and the log box.

I ordered one of Zeitronics Hacker displays and have fitted it to the head stock for an instant reference tool.
It needs to have a box or mount made and I'll go into this later if any one wants the info.
It just fits into the system via a simple splitter block.

First part of the puzzle complete.
I must stress that you need to print out the instructions from Woolich and use them when setting up the Drivers on what ever computer your using.
Woolich User Guide
I short cut the driver install by Blue toothing straight away with out loading the drivers from the log box itself.
This caused an issue with the read and write mode. I needed to uninstall it and go again.

The Data screen is a generic one from the early Suzuki System and not all parameters display.
Justin has said he will look into releasing a dedicated Kawasaki Screen to reflect the true data.

Its on the bike which is the first step. and I'll do a little video to go with it.
It makes it easier to get a lot of info across about it quickly.

I will be using the system mainly as a data logger. The info available from the ECU will improve as Woolich adapt the Software.

Happy with it so far. Just a few User related issues to go through. So I get up to speed with its capabilities.

Since I posted this Justin has updated the firmware already with a Pared down Kawasaki Screen.
All the non functioning data is gone.
He also fixed an issue I had with the TPS not registering..
I rang and caught him at lunchtime and its already been sorted. Top Quality Service..
