Wet weight
08/25/22 4:11 PM

According to Kawasaki, my 2012 had a wet weight of 584, vs 593 for my 2022. Is the difference all from the ABS?
I do NOT like the ABS. Can it be removed without electronics issues?

I understand it is the exhaust - larger cat converter = more weight

I imagine the ABS is a few pounds as well.

Replace the lead-acid Battery with Lithium. It is like removing the weight of 1 gallon of fuel.
You've already removed the stock mufflers which removed about 25lbs.
Personally, I would not remove the ABS.
Our Bike is not heavy.
My 1989 ZX10 Ninja weighed 576lbs. Nobody complained about its weight in any magazine.
My 1981 KZ750 weighed 500 lbs.

I would think I'd gut everything but the ABS system. OH My, I won't lie, nor would I cry, short of hitting the left hand turner in front of me. But what I remember before impact was hearing the ABS kick in. I had a bad habit of front brake only for everything, but when I heard that triggering happen so quick, no feel of the stopping up the forks feeling that go to the bars like old era, when BMW came out with ABS, and you could almost see daylight of the tire the triggering on and off.

I kept it upright all that time heading for the back tire of the car. I'd be crazy removing that, knowing that incident I experienced.

Already did the Shorai, and other items, to lose 60 lbs. I was just curious about the difference between the years.
The difference in handling and moving the bike around is quite significant. The BST’s have a dramatic effect
It’s a different bike.
