PC3 Map for stock exhaust no flies and mileage
12/06/09 5:45 PM

I just bought an 06 ZX14 with 400 miles and have removed the flies and installed a pc3 with the dynojet map and love the throttle response. However, gas mileage is aweful! On the same commute I rode 3 other liter bikes at 37-39mpg, I'm now getting about 30-31.

Does anyone have a map that is a bit more optimized for stock exhaust and no flies? I might end up with an exhaust system @ some point, but not until later next year. I've searched for maps on forums w/o luck - no one seem to have a collection like their were for Yamaha FZ1s

TIA...

You have to realize, this bad boy is no liter bike.

your bike weighs every bit of 100+ lbs more then a liter bike.

It will not get the same fuel mileage. Granted, you should be getting around 33 in my opinion.

The bike was built for power. The mod's you've done are for power. More power = less fuel mileage. You cant have your cake and eat it too

A liter twin and 3 different liter 4s all had the same mileage and I had Yamaha FZ1s that aren't that much lighter. More importantly, before the PC3, I used to see instantaneous mileages on the computer that topped 40 but now I never see it hit the same levels. I didn't leave the bike stock long enough for a more scientific test unfortunately but if the map was correct, then a TRE and removed flies should help slightly for a easy riding commute. I'm not overly concerned about mileage, but no point in running richer than I need to.

I guess the best option will be a custom map, but need to decide if I'm going to get an exhaust system first. I was just hoping that there was more discussion about maps like on some other forums

Thanks...

Forgot to mention that on my FZ1, a PC3 remap gained significant power, smoothness AND mileage. The final map I used picked up 1-2 MPG over stock or other maps and made a very noticeable performance improvement throughout the range - nothing like this ZX-14 though :)

I think your gonna have slim pickens for a map w/ stock exhaust and no flies. Most members here have full exhaust systems.

2006 ZX14, MUZZY M14, flies removed, PC III custom tune, vortex -1,+2, front strap, vortex lowering links, Extensions, Shinko u-soft.
2006 ZX10, Full Ti Tsukigi, flies removed, PC III custom tune, K&N, vortex lowering links. Shinko U-SOFT.

ViperBoy:

I've got a KILLER map for stock exhaust and no flies. It's tweaked for an altitude of about 4,500 feet and a K&N air filter.

I can't send it to you, but you can get it from Jeffo at F.A.I.C. Tuning Services. He charges $50 for his maps.
