First ride
03/26/19 11:19 PM

Just took my first ride on my 2018 ZX14 tonight. Had to wait until the weather cleared, and also wanted to wait until I got the ABM bar riser kit on, along with the 14" Delkevic slip-on exhaust pipes. Very happy with the upgrades. No pain or fatigue in the wrists/shoulders thanks to the ABM kit, and I love the sound of the new pipes. I've also got a Suzuki B King (naked Hayabusa imported to the US only in 2008) and the ZX seems smaller, and easier to handle. I'm old (69) and debated whether to buy the ZX, because of the riding position, but with the ABM kit, it is fine. Also, I'm surprised at how comfortable the stock seat is. 150 miles tonight, and no monkey butt. I'm going to keep riding until my body tells me I can't anymore.

Ok, my bad.
Shouldn't have used the word (mature) as a descriptive for age. We're a bunch of old farts that will never grow up and we enjoy going fast.

Isn't it great as to how many oldsters we have that own ZX14s? I sure didn't figure there'd be that many of us. That shows you age is just a number. Long live the baby boomers and olders!!!

Out here we have a forum called Bay Area Riders Forum, ( Barf) . And invariably, on group rides the average age is north of 50 years old. Lots of good riders too. But I worry that today's kids are so risk adverse and so hooked on their PlayStation that motorcycling as a life style is at risk.
Having said that, it's always funny to be on a group ride with a bunch of fast guys, they're hanging off and trying to look like Mark Marquez, and they can't seem to shake this huge, red spider looking thing in their mirrors. At a stop the pilot pulls of his helmet and it's a 61 year old with a white beard and a ponytail. The looks and comments are funny.

Chronologically mature. Mentally, notsomuch

I'm fitty. It is what it is. I can't seem to stop it. I've tried. Well, it'll stop all on its own someday. Just not today. I don't think
