Rearsets and Annitori ??
05/12/14 8:57 AM

Well I always wanted this quickshifter but never got around to buying one for my 10R so I'm back looking at them again with the 14R .. However I'm pissed I have to buy Rearsets just to use the damn thing!! Not really a big problem but I would've rather used the $300 for Rearsets on something else...

With that said are you guys feeling any more or less vibration with the Rearsets vs the stock ones??
That's my main concern at this point! I don't want to spend 321$ on Rearset(vortex) and they have a buzzing or vibration in them from the bike...

Also how are you guys liking or disliking the setup? Both the shifter and Rearsets if you would elaborate?
I ride street with the occasional race here or there but 98%street backroads just getting it!!

I've put over 1500 miles after I did my set up. Ebay specials that are about half the cost of Vortex, Sato,,ect..
Also switched to reverse shift patter....I took the anitori from my ZX10 track bike and trasnfered it over. Check
my write up here. Now need another on to go back on ZX10..LOL

Your text to link here...

I also did the setup with adjustable shift/brak levers from cycle pirates and 360 degree adjustable (Ebay specials)foot pegs. But I love the adjustability of the EBAY rear sets. Better gip from the pegs. Wore the rubber off the stock after about 10k miles. Not alot of grip on stock rubber pegs during hard cornering for me. this setup has enough adjustability for most at small price...

I have no problem with vibes or the lack of rubber covers on footpegs. The increased grip is very noticable. I own Satos for my busa and Vortex for my 14. My vote is for Vortex. The nut that holds the rear heim joint comes loose all the tim eon the Satos and that would be REALLY bad to lose on the road. Saloslook too small too...if you dremmel out the heal guards on Vortex, they will weigh the same as the slightly lighter Sato. The Votexs works great with the HM shifter. Make sure you get the right shiftrod for your reasets hight....you may need a longer rod for higher / farther back. Also, decide if you want to go with GP shift. I think this will work 10X better with a quickshifter. Ask Cblast, he recently converted to GP shift. takes a little modding of your mods but in the end so much better.

I love the Vortex set. Everything Rook said. I did notice a slight increase in feel through the pegs of what the engine is doing. Not necessarily vibration. I love the feel they give. I had ridden GP shift bikes before but had never committed to it on my streetbike. Best thing I have ever done. The shifts are now forgotten, it took me about 13-15 good rides before I was able to adapt fully and for it to become second nature. Coupled with the Annitori and the Vortex set to the GP shift makes for a very aggressive feeling set-up. You tend to ride more aggressively because you need solid positive throttle to get smooth silky upshifts with the Annitori. The GP pattern lends itself to much more positive deliberate shift. So, I love it and will never look back. Is it possible to still use your clutch and shift normally for maximum smoothness and less aggression? Yes! When I ride my daughter to school in the morning I just clutch shift as usual. Silky smooth. When I'm by myself, every shift I use the quickshifter. I'm addicted. It is ridiculous how it feeds in thrust. Insane. I hold 2nd WOT to 11500 and just tap my foot firmly and up the front end comes when she hits third, hold hard WOT, tap 4th again at 11500, try time it just right and... Up she comes again.... It's freakin addicting. The shifter makes those upshifts happens so fast she only drops back maybe 2/3rds or 1/2 the rpms as per without. Leaving the motor pulling sooo hard against the next gear. It is flawless. But, as I say, makes for some mighty aggressive habits. I love it. Could not live without any part of the setup.

Casper thanks for that info brother!!!! I will look into those Rearsets, as I wondedered there quality...

Rook and cblast info is much appreciated! I will continue to research on Rearsets and prolly will grab the quickshifter and some shift rods.. And that was my next ??? Can u still shift with clutch normally with no issues... Thanks for answering that cblast, do you know if the shifter shits off or does it stay on for regular shifting? I only found translogic with that feature (on/off)..

I recently coated a set of ZX-14 vortex for a forum member...
Which is what I like they look and feel of good quality and the knurled on the pegs seem extremely grippy!

Anitori quick shifter works with clutch for normal shifting. No on/off switch. As long ae your in the throttle just press shift lever and into the next gear it goes. Depending on the rearsets you get, you'll either have to modify it or get correct length shift rod. From anitori or other distributors you can get correct lenth whift rod for around 30 bucks when buying quick shifter.

f*CK ME!

06balckpearl, you cannot shut off the HM shifter either. It hooks inline with the sparkplug wires so I do not see how you could loop in your own ON/OFF switch without turning off ignition.

like the others said, use the clutch all you want. It feels just like stock. No problem cutting ignition for a fraction of a second while you click the shifter with the clutch pulled. I can't even noticed ignition is still getting cut. It occurred to me one day that the ignition cut must be happening with use of the clutch but you can't hear it or feel it at all.

without the clutch, you just keep the throttle open and you feel a little tug as it hits the next gear...sorta like a fish hit your line. How big o' fish depends on how high your rpm is. Like the video says, it feels good. ignore the comment about sensitivity in the vid. The missed shift problem happens in a full low tuck. It's a lot harder to pull the lever up firmly in full gear when leaning way forward. ...another reason to go to GP shift.

Gents, I am in love with the set-up. I rode over 400 miles today and had lunch my ole man in Vancouver, B.C. It was an amazing ride. The shifter is just flawless. Gettin that front end up when bangin fourth is crazy addicting on the big wide open, 4 lane wide sweepers with almost zero traffic. Way fun ride. Saw a funny lookin guy on a bike wearing a funny helmet tooling along about 70 in the middle right side lane, smashed all of third, tap fourth right and sailed by him a lane away with my front wheel about 4-5 inches off the ground. Smash fifth with a firm tap and that girl melts past 180 like someone jabbed her with a hot poker! that shizzle was the most fun I have had in months! I am lovin this nice weather! That ride today would not quite have been the same without some of those shifts at those stratospheric (for a 1441cc), rpms. The shifter hits sooo quick that from where I tap she only drops back to maybe 9800-10000 rpms. It is happening so fast riskin a look down can be foolhardy. Hard to get a grip on where she drops to exactly. I am at full tuck and I catch the reflection of the shift light at 11000 rpm in the windscreen... Wait just a half a heartbeat and TAP!..... Gone. Just makes you want to climb the gears over and over again. The front end gets light and dances up over any road irregularities at all even in FIFTH. Couple times I tapped 6th and wanted to hold her but just had to slow down. Too fast for the type of roads, some of those sweepers turn into corners in ur face fast at 190. I will say, it is a slightly tighter peg to seat relationship. I don't mind and would have had no problem doin another couple hundred miles. But I am used to the foot position and am comfortable with it for long rides. When runnin the GP shift I had to set them in at least that 3 down middle position in the pic for clearance. Higher and more back clears fine, but lower and farther forward does not. Not if you want to keep the linkage actuating directly as straight as possible.

Was thinking about the Bazzaz too but for the QS4 Stand alone quick shifter they wanted 460.00...when i checked it was more than the Annitori at 399.00....But I like the simplicity of the
Annitori as far as installation and interchangability. The same unit will also be plug and play On the my 06 ZX10..So I could just buy another Spark plug harness and easily switch back and forth between bikes.
The Anitori unit will work on 06 and up zx10, 06 and up ZX14, I think it will also work on the newer ZX6's too, so if for some reason you wanted to get sale it or move it to another bike easy.

for that matter, i don't see why the Annitori wouldn't transfer to any bike provided you order the proper sparkplug harness.

the QS4 Stand alone quick shifter

It's been a couple years since I did my research but "stand alone" sounds like Bazzaz is making a shifter that is just a shifter. When I looked into it, they had a fuel module with QS and TC and it was over a grand, if I recall. I guess you don't need the TC for the 14r though, do you. I'd be leaning toward the Bazzaz stand alone if you like having a lot of settings to choose from. After you use the shifter though, I think your going to find that a wide range of adjustment is not worth bothering about. 10 or 20 mls +/- in this gear or that is not going to be noticeable unless you drag race. Mighty cool toy if you like to play with this stuff though. I still don't know half the stuff my PC5 does after 5 years and I haven't even totally figured out my Speedohealer. Barely messed with Autotune. With all the riding that we want to do and all the wrenching that needs to be done on a=occassiion, "set it and forget it" has definite advantages....not that you couldn't do that with the Bazzaz but then you have all that technology sitting there waiting for the day when you can figure it out.
