1. Pull hose out of ram, under frame, right side, cork the hose, close the ram hole = Do not have to mess with the PAIR plates or reeds via removal.
2. Opt 1: Pull PAIR electrical plug off the actuator, run any ohm resistor across the clip to turn the light out.
Opt 2: Keep the connector on and let it run like normal... Nothing will happen.
3. Pull up a chair and start taking everything off that is the PAIR system. PITA, waste of time, won't improve a thing, etc. Your call option.

Makes sense to me. The PAIR is sucking air into the exhaust so I would expect that would cause the oxygen level to increase without a catalytic converter to burn the combustion byproducts. I accepted AT trims after running a couple months with the PAIR hose blocked. I have not checked the AFR yet but it seems to have helped smooth out low end throttle response.

IDK. You can simply remove the solenoid and connect the inlets to the reed valve covers with a piece of hose and hose clamps. That's the same thin as block off plates.

I haven't heard of any codes coming from unplugging the PAIR wire from the solinoid. It is a beech to remove but other than that, no problem. Just plugging the hose is a good idea to test it out. That should give you pretty much the same result as removing the whole thing. I have a tutorial if you care to look.
