HP gains adding Gen II cams to Gen I?

Are they a direct bolt on? What HP gain would it make?

Yes, looks like a direct swap. Only gain is to take a cam lobe profile and watch the lift. So say, toe up (highest point) and the heel (lowest point or where the valve lash goes in between), where 0 starts at the heel, then find the peak number at the toe. Swap cams and where is the peak number on the toe?

First year has a cam update. So the ideal cam would be first year cams out of a gen 1 (2006). Then we want to see how many miles on the cams. Then we see the wear factor and the toe has ever so slightly lost lift, anally speaking. Then say the lift is higher. Where is the piston valve pocket and how close is the distance taken up, where we'd have to machine the piston's valve pockets deeper to clear the new lift. Only a wad of clay knows for sure.

And now a variable kicks in. Did you see a thread about a cam swap and now a cam sensor code with a no-start issue? A word to those with limited money and time to R&D; as in throwing parts at it to see if it works... REMAIN STOCK!

no the cams are not a direct swap. the cam chains are different so you need to swap cam sprockets and then you got it . about a 5hp gain

Thanks...not worth it for such a small gain.

I met some ZX-14 racers at the track and they told me the 2006 ZX-14 Cams work best even in the newer ZX-14s.

55 & still feeling the need for speed.

130 chain is first gen = 1352cc v. bore to stroke.
132 chain is second gen = 1441cc is a longer stroke to bore.

Use same chain for said gen. Use same gen sprockets to match.
