Hi all, I want to install some heated grips via a relay off the ignition. This will insure that when the bike is off the grips won't keep running. Can anyone suggest a easy wire location where I can tap into the ignition on electrics?

I'm no electician and don't want to mess with all those little black box connectors. I was thinking of pulling off the front fairing and running the relay off the small running lights?

Any suggestions/ideas welcomed.

At the horn, there is one wire that is hot when the key is on. Use that wire for the hot constant when key on. With key off, the current stops. All you need to do is use an on/off switch between the horn wire and grips.

If you want to run a fuse from the hot horn wire side, you can use an old H-D fuse breaker, where you connect the copper post to the hot side of the horn wire, then you can run a bunch of your accessories off that silver leg on the breaker. Even though the horn has a fuse ready to blow, you can have that breaker work like a turn signal, where if there is a short, the breaker stops the flow and breaks the path inside the fuse breaker. It will click away until you find the direct short to ground.

Thanks Hub, worked a treat! Now the grips and 12v power socket are nicely connected to the ignition cct via a relay.
