I'll be there as a spectator only in March. If the runway is better than the one at Beeville I'll run it in Oct.

This might seem off track.
But it's not.
What I'm thinking.... to get the last couple of miles it's found inside the frame.
The 14R has a mixed set of velocity stacks short and tall.
Now for the meat:
Has anyone replaced the mixed set of stacks with a set of just shorts?
Since it has displacement using just the shorts to enhance the top end?

I saw your post over at 1441.com. 1 hp. I heard similar about the Gen1. Factory pro stacks don't make a lot of difference for hp but they do seal up the ducts better than stock if you need that for turbo.

I would do it just because they look so nice but go for some cool anodized ones. Orient Express.

I've never done a LSR event, but I can definitely attest that aero makes a big difference. In the early 2000's I had an old Suzuki VX800... shaft drive standard style naked bike with the Intruder 800 engine. I had already put a 2-into-1 BSM exhaust on it and it topped out around 115-117. I then got the great idea to put a full fairing on it, so I bought a Powerbronze Endurance fairing. Not long after I got a Pennsylvania State Police official document stating that I was going 128mph. At the time, I had a taller than stock rear tire and was pulling 500 rpm past redline in top gear. That was an expensive document...

It was a fun bike for a standard. Retired it with over 120k miles on it. I have another now as a project bike that I'll get to 'someday'. As for the zx14, my 2012 pulled a gps verified 192 on my way home from work once. Only performance mod was 4-into-2 exhaust.

After 3 seconds of full throttle, everything else on the road becomes 'Oncoming Traffic'...

Rook Thanks I did see that Shane responded. I'm trying to get the NA bike to 210mph currently at 208 without going crazy inside the motor.
The turbo is up to 224mph at 9800rpm I finally figured out the issue. Now it will revs to 11,500 if needed. I'm hoping for a nice increase is speed with an additional 1500rpm.
Rats!!! I can't believe March is sold out at the Texas mile,

Awesome. I'd love to ride that bike. Are those mph over 210 on the dyno or have you actually ridden the bike that fast?

What did Shane have to say about the velocity stacks? I don't see the thread anymore over on 1441r.com.

Really silly ass question.....

Actually I did 224.6
one son Alan did 220
the other son Derek did 217
Shane did say he picked up one HP with all the short stacks.

Your signature is a little misleading then. It should read "best of 224.6 in the 1.5, currently can only go 208.1 mph."

Shane did say he picked up one HP with all the short stacks.

Which is worth it for you guys.

Didn't make Tx mile last year. Running the same front fender as the busa now, and cf clip on/bolt downs. I'm going with factory pro short stacks, and a ported smoothed throttle body with the secondaries completely removed. Hope we'll get some good speed this year.

My tuner took 9 months to flash the ecu and tune it with woolich software. Had to add an STVE healtech device to get the bike to run error free after completely removing the second set of throttle bodies.
I'm waiting for my new tail and cf gas tank. The old tank and pump have rusted terribly while waiting for all the new parts to get here which were supposed to have been here months if not years ago.
Maybe next year...

Hang in there bruh...I've been working on mine for ten years. Maybe get it done in another 4 or 5. Keeps a guy from buying more bikes which isn't altogether a bad thing.

Finally got my throttle body and ecu back. Throttle body now hangs up on the injectors, and has a couple of bent pieces on it. :\
Got my new triple clamps and front mount steering damper, still need fender adapters for my busa fender, and a lightweight fairing stay with a damper mount. This upgrade requires clip ons, so I have to change my handles again..
Haven't run the bike since the first of 2018 so my tank is full of rust, soaking it in rust removal, hope it doesn't eat my gas cap.
Waiting for new aluminum rotors, Ti bits for my rear caliper, and magnetic pistons for my front calipers. And all of my carbon fiber parts.
Supposedly a ported throttle body and short velocity stacks allows the power to plateau through 12k rpm...

There's a perfect reason for you to get a composite fuel tank. I've never had rust in my tanks though. I just keep them full all winter. The 14 did sit about a year in a storage unit without riding one time.

That sucks about the T-bodies! You'd think they'd know how to port in a way that avoids the injector problem but there's no excuse for bending parts.

The build is pretty exciting. I'm sure the riding will be as well.

Put a new set of injectors and fuel rail on which solved the rubbing issue, old rubber gaskets were just a little compressed.

I have a bad back, can't lift a full tank off the floor and its been on and off a lot. I need the lighter cf stuff to save my back...

Yes, never mind the floor--- that full tank will kill ya if you try to lift it on/off the bike. I wouldn't think of doing it without draining as much gas as possible.

Yoshi makes the coolest aluminum tank with rapid fill air displacement vent for the Hayabusa. ...only about $2000!! I gotta have that someday. Unfortunately none for the 14 that I know of.
