Which seat??
05/07/10 8:40 AM

I almost always (>95% of the time) have my better half with me and need to provide a more comfortable seat/pad for her. Everyone knows if momma is happy poppa is happy. I've found three aftermarket seat manufacturers (non custom fitted) that have replacement seats available. Here's my question(s)?

For the dollars spent which is the better seat?

Corbin

Sargent

Russell

Does anyone other than Corbin make a seat with a backrest. The web site for Corbin lists the back rest alone at $299 which seems pretty pricey for what it is, then the seat is another $400 on top of that so now we are at $700.

Can the concourse seat be swapped in?

Is there someone else besides corbin who make a backrest for the Concourse seat?

Those who have switched seat please let me know your opinion(s).

With thanks,
Ricardo

I tried the Sargent, sold it after 2 weeks, it put my passenger too far back.
I like to ride close to the tank, but couldn't because I had to sit farther back so my wife could hang on.
There's a hump, so the passenger can only move up so far. My arms felt to extended, the seat wasn't for me.
I'm 6' tall, average arm length.
The seat padding was very comfortable, when I rode solo, but that's not what I bought it for.
Will try a Concours seat next. You just have to change the brackets on the seat I'm told.

Yes, a C14 seat will work on he ZX. All you have to do is change the brackets.

I have a Russell. Best in terms of passenger comfort in my opinion and my wife will also not ride without it. Ive tried Sargent too, but no comparison to the Russell. That being said, it is a little on the ugly side. That's why I have a stocker that I'm gonna make more comfortable for when its just me on the bike. Good Luck in your search!

Not trying to jack your thread, but just recieved and installed this Sargent modular seat today.

As a rule, I never take passengers on my bikes, always solo. I even bought my wife a bike so that I didnt have to haul her ass on the back anymore. Havent tride the seat out other than sitting on it in the garage, but I will do a 220 mile loop tomorrow to see if it feels better/works. Thanks for the recommendation BG.

Hey tflndav,

Haven't been here for awhile, didn't see your question.

I like the Leo a lot. I think it looks good and wasn't too pricey. It's actually quieter (with the baffle removed) than the 2 Bros slip-ons it replaced, but definitely a higher pitch. And it comes with an A/F bung already installed.

Install was a little bit of a PIA, but I think it's because I had it ceramic coated which made the tolerances really tight.

tflndav, so how's the Sargent seat? How much more comfortable/softer than the stocker?
Did you order the standard or lower height? Thanks.

I just ordered the Sargent World Performance Seat LOW with heat. Know several connie riders with one and they are the same except for hardware. They love theirs over the stock connie seat.

So I'm done, because I'm not spending $3k+ for wheels or forks or such.

Let us know how you like the Sargent seat. Also wondering if the low version is still comfortable after several hours.
A pic would be nice too if you have the time. Thanks.

The guys with the low version on their C14s love them, and they do more than "several hours" a day all the time.

And the ZX14 seat is the same internally, so I would imagine I'll find it comfortable on all-day rides.

The club does about 12 of them a year, several 2- and 3-day ones also. We often ride 4-6 hours a day, with a break for lunch and gas stops. I've been fine on them with my stock seat (re-padded by Spencer, which helps a lot) so the Sargent is going to be like heaven. :)
