Bar risers
01/16/19 1:52 PM

Need to try some bar risers as I find my neck and back hurts after a while, without altering brake lines what is the max rise I can use, I've heard of people stacking them?
Thanks in advance

Try this thread. Lots of info for battling neck and back pain with bar changes.

I think 1 inch is the highest you can go without running into interference issues with the fairing.
I have 1 inch risers on my 06 and find it very comfortable. Used all the stock lines and cables.

I've never had at trouble with the stock pegs. I'm 6'3" and found the peg position comfortable for a 1500 mile trip 2- up. I think some members put Buell pegs on which are lower. When the wife is aboard we use a stock seat off a Concourse 1400. Fits right on. Don't need an aftermarket seat.

I have the GenMar risers and Knight Design lowered pegs...great combo...but kicking around the idea of doing the full on LSL handlebar conversion, as I have a 2.5 week Idaho/Montana/Washington/Oregon trip coming up in July...

2013 ZX14R ABS, Red, Scorpion Serket Carbon slip ons, centerstand, Rizoma Mirrors, MRA DoubleBubble, Gen-Mar risers, Buell pegs, ThrottleMeister, GIVI V35, Corbin saddle, backrest and glovebox, Power Bronze Hugger, Radiator Guard...so far...

Thanks for the info guys, when i first sat on the bike in the dealership it did not feel quite right, bit more of a stretch to the bars than my zx1100, but thought i would get used to it, not done a lot of miles on it last year but will do many this year. Just didnt like the look of a hyabusa.

I have GenMars on my '07. 1" higher and 5/8" rearward. Very little slack left in brake line, safe, but wouldn't want it any tighter.
The bar risers helped I'm sure, but not near enough in my case. I never decided to go with the a riser/bar kit because I think they don't go well with the 14 cosmetically. My main problem is my wrists start to hurt and circulation gets poor after awhile. My throttle hand seems to get it the worst. The answer for me is probably a cruise control, not higher bars.

'Throttlemiester' is your friend here.

I'm 5"7" and shrinking at nearly 66 years old. In 2017 I rode my 2016 ZX14 SE ABS to Calif (with my now 85 year old dad on his 650 Ninja). We had a few 500 mile days and a couple over 600. I have the Throttlemiesters and Genmar risers. Along with a used Corbin Gunfighter from "double d" and I was surprisingly comfi on all but the loooong days. We did about 6k miles total in 2 weeks. In fact, this ZX14 is more comfi than my XXs similarly set up on the same trips. BUT, get what works for you.

One of my leftovers is a steel-plate tube bar adapter that does the same thing as the LSL kit without having to swap out the top triple. It simply bolts to the same places as the stock clip-ons and can accept any 7/8" tube bar you have enough cable and wire to reach (no ape hangers). The Renthal aluminum superbike bar I used (which was tweaked in the crash) is 4" higher at the ends than stock bars, but used all the stick wiring and cables. Complete with mounting hardware and bar clamps.

$50 shipped to anywhere in the continental US. PM for contact and Paypal info.
