4 season Service
10/01/15 4:01 PM

Well about to round out my fourth season on the 14r. Bike has been great but at just under 20k I think its time for some service. Thinking I am gonna change the plugs, coolant and have the steering head cleaned and repacked with grease and have the brake fluid changed. Anyone know the part number for the Iridium plugs for the Gen II and any recommendations for quality coolant(was thinking of using Honda pre-mixed). Thanks

Advanced Auto... $7/plug.

KawiCool is sold by the liter (litre for the Canucks) and is undiluted. 2/3rds of a bottle is sufficient.

Be wary of aftermarket coolants... do your homework. Coolants contain specific chemicals, in specific amounts, to combat corrosion whilst not attacking the material of the engine. Proper lubrication of the coolant pump's mechanical seal is another consideration.

While they're may be more cost effective coolant concentrate equivalents, perform the due diligence to ensure that every demand of a coolant is satisfied.

Interested in what your brake fluid looks like after 4 yrs and 20K miles?

Mine was starting to look a bit yellow in the front after 6m and 2500 miles and this is what the rear fluid looked like

Crude, I changed the brake fluid after the second season when I did the brake lines. I know the fluid does not look that dark. I still have a set of NGK Iridium CR9EIX from my GEN one i never used, anyone know if these will work in the GEN II?
