Tools??

I'm looking at upgrading my tool set. What type of basic tools are recommended for minor repairs and maintenance on the ZX14?

Kowa T-Handles:

8mm - Engine cover bolts
10mm - Chassis Hardware like gas tank mounts, under seat hardware.
12mm - Standard main engine case bolts and larger hanger bolts.
14mm - Standard hardware bolts and nuts used for muffler hanger sizes.
17mm - Standard hardware mounting head sizes.

Need 6-point box end wrenches of same size so you can hold the other end of the nut to, T the bolt off. A 17mm to drain the oil, etc.

Need set of Allen wrenches:
4mm
5mm
6mm
8mm

Need standard Philips screwdrivers:
# 2 tip USA and Japan ASO(?) - Someone will correct me on the Japanese head lettering. I'm taking a guess 3 in the morning.

A universal joint swivel attachment for a 1/4" drive socket is a must for getting on all of the header nuts. They do come loose from heat expansion. You will also need a long 1/4" drive extension so you can reach in there. I think mine is a 14" extension. Make sure you don't have those really shallow sockets for this job because I doubt if they are deep enough to admit the stud that sticks out of the header nuts. You won't need to remove the radiator if you use this set up with a 1/4"drive ratchet. Just be very careful of the radiator fins - don't want to press them in.

Also a long breaker bar for the rear axle. ~30". You can rent the axle nut socket from Advance Auto and they will refund your fee in total when you return. A clicker torque wrench is a good thing to have to torque the rear axle with. I also have a small 0 - 50'lbs flex beam torque wrench for those light torques. The big'n isn't accurate at light torqueing.

32mm socket for rear axle nut comes in handy. Also a 22mm alan key or socket for removing the front wheel. I know you said Minor but I bet you reach for them one day.

Yep. Or one of these:
