M4 slip on question -- quiet baffle feels like power reduction
04/20/21 8:40 PM

My 2015 14 came with M4 drag slip ons with the standard baffle. Due to tinnitus they are just too loud. I installed the M4 quiet baffles and can live with the reduced exhaust volume... but the bike feels down on power with them in.

Anyone have the same experience? Hate to gue$$ on quieter slip ons... but craving the power.

I wear earplugs btw. Thanks for any thoughts boys!

I installed the stock pipes. Can't hear the exhaust tone over the wind noise. Definitely easier on the ears but more difficult engine management (gauging rpms by sound is gone) and don't care for the lack of heel space behind the pegs due to the girth of OEM.

Would be great to find a new middle ground.

I always hear an Akrapovic full system isn't real loud unless your on it hard. I imagine the slipons would be similar if that's your cup of tea. It's probably not much more expensive to buy an Akra 4-2-1 than two slipons.

I have the Akrapovic slip-ons and love them. I too, am not a fan of loud exhausts. Akra has a subdued but very nice, "European" sound. They came stock on Euro-spec ZX-14's 'Performance Sport' model. They have removable baffles but I left mine in. Hard to describe the sound but there are many videos that show it against other exhausts on the ZX14, that's the best way to note the difference in tone and volume.

Thanks guys. Great info on the volume and tone. Guess I'll need to pay up soon. Do these manufacturers or resellers typically offer seasonal or black friday sales?
